Who is Mostafa Baluch ?

A search was launched to find a former restaurateur accused of importing more than 900 kg of cocaine into Australia.

Mostafa Baluch of Sydney’s North Beaches, is wanted for allegedly violating the conditions of his bail after he was hit with drug offenses in June when his Bayview home was raided.

He was granted bail on Friday for various conditions and he must wear an ankle monitor.wikipedia

The tracking device died Monday night and police were now urgently trying to locate the 33-year-old man, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Baluch is seen leaving the Southport Watchhouse on the Gold Coast on Thursday

He was escorted to Coolangatta Airport by tactical police officers and transported by PolAir6, a Cessna Grand Caravan, to Bankstown Airport.

Baluch will be transferred to the Metropolitan Detention and Reception Center, where he will face further charges from detectives from the Organized Crime Squad.

He is expected to face the Sydney Central Local Court on Friday.

He is accused of trying to import more than 900 kg of cocaine into Australia with a street value of 270 million dollars.

The alleged kingpin appeared sullen when he was taken out of the Southport Guardhouse in handcuffs after being extradited from Queensland to New South Wales.

An officer holding a clear bag with his belongings revealed that Baluch had packed a Colgate toothbrush, a Nivea moisturizer, deodorant, and some disposable razors.

An Adidas clothing item with the $ 59.99 tag still attached was also in the bag, as well as his driver’s license and, interestingly, a pack of Maggi noodles.

A note scrawled on the side of the transparent bag said: “See and cash in safe.”

He is expected to face the Sydney Central Local Court on Friday.

Before his arrest on Wednesday, he was last seen at Bayview on Sydney’s North Beaches on October 25, days after he was released on bail.

He was released under strict conditions, including a $ 4 million bond at his beachfront home in Bayview.

Baluch’s desperate dash for freedom ended when he was found hiding in a grey Mercedes concealed in a shipping container

Queensland officers searched dozens of trucks in the days leading up to the arrest, concentrating on transportation after noting the container was not properly secured.

As he is not vaccinated against Covid, Baluch remained in isolation for his extradition hearing on Thursday and heard the proceedings through loudspeaker.

The only words they said during the hearing were ‘yes, I can hear you’ when asked to confirm that he was there, NCA NewsWire reported.

Attorney Nicholas Andrews granted the extradition request without objection, and Baluch was expected to return to Sydney later that day.

The NSW police are calling for anyone with information about Baluch to come forward. The man was last seen on Pittwater Road, Bayview, around 10:40 p.m. Monday.
