Mitchell Pearce Biography
NRL star Mitchell Pearce called off her wedding almost at the last minute after allegedly sending flirty text messages to a club employee.
Newcastle Knights captain Pearce and his partner Kristin Scott were due to marry in front of 150 guests in Byron Bay, on the north coast of New South Wales, on Tuesday.
The guests, some of whom had already traveled to Byron Bay, were told until Christmas Eve that the Covid-19 pandemic forced the nuptials to be postponed.
However, the wedding was called off after Pearce allegedly told some teammates that he sent racy text messages to a young Knights employee the week before Christmas.
“The Newcastle Knights are aware of the problem, but it is a private matter that remains between the two people,” the team said Sunday.
Ms Scott and the female employee’s partner are understood to have seen the alleged messages
Pearce and his fiancee celebrated Christmas separately.
A club source told the Daily Telegraph that the alleged flirtation was limited to the series of messages and that nothing physical happened.
There has been nothing physical, just stupidity on Mitchell’s part with a young woman who works at the club. A lot of people are upset about it, ‘they said.
Pearce insisted that the wedding was only postponed, not canceled, and that the couple were “fixing things.”
“I’m dirty with people who spread rumors,” he said.
Daily Mail Australia contacted the Knights and Pearce for comment.
Pearce and Ms. Scott went public with their relationship in May 2019 before Pearce proposed in April 2020.
She bought a 2.5 carat solitaire oval diamond worth about $ 40,000 for an engagement ring.
An effusive Ms Scott took to social media to share the good news with her followers.
‘Life just fit in. I can’t wait to be your wife, ‘he wrote.
The couple have also launched the successful Barre Effect gym in Newcastle.
Mitchell is the captain of the Newcastle Knights and has previously told the media that he intends to lead the club to his first prime ministerial post in 20 years.
In 2016, Pearce, who was playing Sydney Roosters at the time, sparked controversy after he was filmed simulating s*xual activity with a dog on Australia Day.
He was fined $ 125,000 and suspended for eight NRL games.
