A Staten Island woman who was shot by her teenage son during a dispute has died, police said Sunday.
An 18-year-old son is behind bars and faces murder charges for allegedly fatally shooting his mother after law enforcement sources said a fight broke out over dinner at the family’s Staten Island home.
Police say 51-year-old Minire Pelinkovic was shot around 6:15 p.m. Saturday at the house on Burbank Avenue. She was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital with a gunshot wound to her lower back, according to the New York Police Department.
Officers detained and arrested her son, Adnan Pelinkovic, for allegedly firing the shot that killed her. He has been charged with more than half a dozen counts, including murder, attempted murder, and assault.
Police said that in the shooting the son used a Sig Sauer 9 millimeter owned by the alleged perpetrator’s father.

A 54-year-old man, Adnan’s father, was also injured in the domestic dispute. Police say he suffered a laceration to his chest, but refused to receive medical treatment at home.
Police sources say the shooting following an argument at the dinner table that quickly escalated. That’s when the 18-year-old son grabbed his father’s gun and shot his mother. The sources say the gun is legally owned.
