Mike Pompeo Wiki
Mike Pompeo Biography
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday criticized the “awakening” and political correctness within the official Voice of America broadcaster after some employees protested his plan to speak to official US broadcasters at VOA headquarters.
Pompeo said that Voice of America, which broadcasts to a global audience beyond the shores of the United States, has “lost its voice” and needs to intensify efforts to promote democracy, freedom and American values, rather than criticize U.S.
The comments were a harsh response to critics in Congress and some news outlets who have accused the Trump administration of seeking to end the journalistic independence of Voice of America, Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty and other well-known broadcast weapons of the US government.

Pompeo said that, as with other government agencies, international broadcast media had been lost after the end of the Cold War in the early 1990s.
“Many wrote that the story was over. We allowed security protocols to expire and VOA lost its commitment to its founding mission, ”Pompeo said, according to comments prepared from him. “His broadcasts had become less about telling the truth about America and, all too often, about degrading America.”
VOA’s parent company, the US Global Media Agency, also lost its ability to grant security clearances after foreign nationals gained access to secrets without proper verification from VOA employees, RFE / RL, Radio Free Asia and other stations.
Congress sought to strengthen broadcasting by creating a new executive director position for USAGM, which oversees networks that receive more than $ 700 million annually in taxpayer funding.
