Who is Mikaela Chubb?

Mikaela Chubb said her young son, believed to be named Tommy, is recovering in hospital following the ‘strange accident’ at a property on Temple View Terrace, in the Richmond Hill area of Leeds, West Yorkshire.

She said her 18-month-old son was napping in her crib on Saturday when he woke up and managed to climb into her parents’ bed.

The young man then climbed onto the headboard and fell out of the open window and fell approximately 15 feet onto the pavement below.

Emergency services are rushing to the scene and today a police cordon is maintained outside the property.

Investigation

West Yorkshire Police said the boy’s injuries are “not considered life-threatening” and investigations into the incident are “ongoing”

A police cordon is maintained outside the house where the child fell.

Mikaela said that she spent Saturday night and all of Sunday, Mother’s Day, in her son’s hospital bed after her fall.

She added: ‘It’s so hard being a father sometimes

Her dad always checks to make sure the window is closed, but this time he didn’t. That’s what makes this an accident.

The boy was asleep in her bed. He woke up and climbed onto our bed, then over the headboard to the windowsill.

This is an ongoing game/issue and we could never have imagined this happening.

‘The window is closed 99% of the time, but due to the sunny weather, the room was aired out before the baby’s nap. The padlock clicked, leading us to believe it was locked. Apparently this time it wasn’t.

Mikaela said she spent Saturday night and all of Sunday, Mother’s Day, in her son’s hospital bed.

Dawn Irving, a homeless mother of three, says police incidents on the street happen regularly.

Dawn, who works as a cardiographer, said: “We’re a bit used to seeing the police, it happens all the time.” I wish we didn’t have to live here, but it’s where we live and property prices aren’t great.”

In response to this, Dawn said, “It sounds horrible, but I thought it was worse than that.”

“In the space of two weeks, a couple of months ago, we had someone glassed and someone stabbed.

‘When you see the police, you think ‘it has happened again’. It is one of those because it is so regular that it is no longer shocking. That’s a bit sad.
