Meghan Markle announced today that she has suffered a miscarriage since arriving in the United States.

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, said she lost her second child after suffering a “severe cramp” when she changed her son Archie’s diaper in July.

Meghan Markle wrote in the New York Times today that she fell ill at her Los Angeles home and was heartbroken in the hospital with her husband Harry when she cried for their baby.

He described the heartbreaking moment when he noticed “something was wrong” and said, “After changing my diaper, I felt a severe cramp. I fell to the ground with him in my arms and hummed a lullaby to calm us down. Both, the upbeat melody contrasted with my feeling that something was wrong.

“When I hugged my firstborn, I knew I was going to lose the second.”

Meghan wrote that it came one morning in July that “started like any other day.”

The Duchess of Sussex said she woke up, fed the dogs, fixed Archie’s clothes and pencils before “putting my hair in a ponytail before taking my son out of his crib.”

Then she felt a pain in her stomach as she changed Archie’s diaper, then fell to the ground, hugging him as she lost her unborn baby.

Meghan Markle wrote: “Hours later, I was lying on a hospital bed holding my husband’s hand. I felt the moisture on her palm and kissed her knuckles, wet with our tears. As I stared at the cool white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we would heal. “
