Matthew James Markcrow Wiki
Matthew James Markcrow Biography
After a notice from the public, Matthew James Markcrow, 35, and Crystal Marie Sawyer, 23, were arrested in a police raid on a home in south Brisbane on Thursday.
At least four women between the ages of 17 and 24 were allegedly drugged, tattooed, filmed and exploited for unpaid prostitution in what a court said was a “particularly sinister” case.
Sawyer was charged with running an illegal prostitution business and violating a police order by failing to provide the police with her phone and laptop passwords.
After she was granted bail on Friday, she was seen fleeing court until she was confronted by a photographer.

Sawyer, who was wearing bright orange sports leggings, is then seen running towards the photographer demanding that he stop taking a photo of him before tripping and hitting the ground.
She then leaves claiming that the snapper did not have ‘permission’ to take the photo of her.
‘Don’t take my damn picture! You didn’t ask my permission! she hears him say.
Her boyfriend, Markcrow, has been charged with conducting a business involving servitude, making recordings in violation of privacy and conducting an illegal prostitution business.
He also allegedly tattooed the women with the phrase ‘owned by Matt’.

Police allege that her co-defendant, Sawyer, acted as the ‘older girl’ in the house where the group lived with the other women who followed her example.
“[A] community member [informed the police] that at least four young women [allegedly] had been illegally recruited, provided drugs and prostituted themselves against their own will,” said Juliet Hancock, detective inspector for the Task Force for Control of Prostitution.
The two defendants along with three young women were found in the home by officers conducting the raid, The Courier Mail reported.
Police said the young women came from dysfunctional homes and had been attacked via social media by the couple.

A police prosecutor said Sawyer told officers that “she was like a mother” to the other girls in the house, and they noted that she seemed to have a “degree of control” over the women who followed her example.
The court also heard that when she saw Markcrow in the police holding cells, she screamed that she “would take care of everything for you.”
Investigations are ongoing and police suspect there may be more victims and are asking that anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
The affairs of Markcrow and Sawyer are postponed until February 24.
