Martin Decker Biography
Martin Decker was a retired CPS attorney who was reportedly found dead in his home with a serious head injury when police launched a murder investigation. The body of former CPS senior attorney Decker was discovered in his Birkenhead, Wirral home where he was living alone at around 5:20 pm Sunday.
Merseyside police said an Home Office autopsy revealed the cause of death as a serious blunt force head injury.

Several lines of investigation are underway, police said, and forensic, house-to-house and CCTV investigations are taking place near the house in Vyner Croft. Mr. Martin Decker worked for CPS Mersey Cheshire as a senior attorney from 1986 until he retired in 2012.
One of his key roles was his involvement with the Unity team in Merseyside, which brought together rape and sex crime attorneys with the police so they could work together on the type of crime.
Siobhan Blake, CPS Mersey Cheshire’s chief crown prosecutor, said: “Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult and tragic time.”

In a statement, Mr. Decker’s family said that he spent his life working hard on behalf of other people and for his benefit. ” The statement read: “He led a team of attorneys at CPS, all of whom loved and admired him, would go the extra mile for him to meet his high standards.
“Martin worked hard but he also played hard. He loved to travel and play sports; He was so happy that his beloved Tranmere Rovers Football Club did so well this season. “He is loved by all and his death will leave a huge hole in our lives that can never be filled.”
“His mother and all his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and all family members will miss him deeply.”
Death of Martin Decker’s attorney
Police attended Mr. Decker’s home in Prenton’s Vyner Croft development around 5.30pm Sunday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His death was initially treated as inexplicable before subsequent examinations revealed that he had suffered a “serious blunt force head injury.” The scene around his property was cordoned off and forensic officers could be seen conducting investigations Tuesday.
Asking for details, Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Wilson said: “This is obviously a very tragic incident and our thoughts are with Mr. Decker’s family and friends. “The investigation is in the early stages and we are currently working to establish Mr. Decker’s movements on March 6-7.
