After an Amber Alert went off on an 11-year-old girl Monday night, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office tweeted at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday that Montana “Jordan” Breseman was in Tampa and safe.
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco elaborated on the investigation at a news conference Tuesday.
Sheriff Nocco first thanked community members and other law enforcement agencies for helping him locate Montana safely.
The sheriff said Montana was in Hillsborough County, at the home of a grown man whom he considered his boyfriend.
While the investigation is still ongoing, Nocco said several arrests have already been made, including the two people appearing in previously released surveillance video from 7-Eleven near River Ridge High School in Montana for the last time before his disappearance was seen.
Reginald Clark, 19, of Jacksonville, and a 17-year-old boy from Clearwater, were charged with disrupting child care, which is a crime.
How old is Luis Alberto Encarnacion ?
Luis Alberto Encarnacion, 22, of Tampa, who is the MP who says Montana is her boyfriend, is still on trial.
“In his mind he thought Luis was his friend. We all know that it is not real. It’s not real for an 11-year-old to have a 22-year-old boyfriend, “Nocco said.
“What is real is that Luis, this 22-year-old, acted as a predator against this little boy.”
Sheriff Nocco said detectives believed Montana met and communicated with the three men on social media, but they were still working to connect Encarnacion, Clark and the 17-year-old boy.
The sheriff said he believed that “many negative childhood experiences” led Montana to seek stability in Encarnacion. He mentioned that Montana was not in the care of his parents or any other family member.
Nocco noted that the sheriff’s office is working with children’s charities to provide Montana with the help and resources he needs to be in the best position for the long term.
He also urged parents to talk to their children about human trafficking and monitor what their children do online to prevent such situations from happening again in the future.
