Louie Boyce Wiki
Louie Boyce Biography
Who is Louie Boyce?
A disqualified driver who was filmed nearly hitting a child in a crosswalk after trying to overtake a parked car has been jailed for 42 weeks.
Louie Boyce, 22, was caught on dash cam overtaking a vehicle that had stopped to allow a family to cross the street, before narrowly avoiding hitting a five-year-old boy who was on his scooter in May 2020.
Horrific footage showed the moment Boyce’s white Seat pulled ahead before the girl’s stepfather, Jason Payne, heroically jumped to the front to defend his scooter-riding daughter.
Boyce, who had no insurance, revved up the engine and sped away from the scene of the incident in Castle Bromwich, West Midlands.
He was jailed for 42 weeks and banned from driving for two years at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
West Midlands Police initially posted the images on social media as part of a public appeal to identify Boyce, who subsequently turned himself in.
Prosecutor Ryan Hodgins told the court that the family, including four children, ages 10, 8, 5 and 3, had gone for a walk and were on their way home.
The video showed traffic waiting on both sides of the intersection, but a white Seat could be seen peeking out from behind the first car in line.
As the family crossed, the Seat zoomed directly into the path of Jason and Gracie, who hopped on their scooter and rolled further toward the vehicle.
As the car showed no signs of slowing, Jason threw himself onto the hood and slammed his hand against the windshield.
Gracie then jumped back as Jason criticized the driver for his actions.
Another clip, from a different angle, showed how dangerously close Gracie got to the front of the car, which slammed on the brakes just in time to avoid the boy.
The shocking scene caused outrage on social media after Gracie’s mother, Elizabeth Mears, decided to share the footage in hopes of catching the driver.
She posted the video captioned: ‘My partner keeps hitting the hood on him to tell him to stop but he keeps apologizing as he does.
No one was hurt, but we were all shocked! Also a big thank you to the witnesses who gave us their dash cam footage and helped calm us all down.
Speaking afterwards, Mrs Mears added: ‘We are all fine now. My girl was shocked, but she soon came back home, but she won’t forget it easily.
