Los Angeles Lakers Wiki Bio
If the Los Angeles Lakers are going to beat the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Semifinals, they are going to have to put on the court a different product than they showed in Friday’s 112-97 loss in Game 1.
That could include Anthony Davis shifting from his normal power forward position to center, a place he hasn’t liked. After the series opening loss, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that Davis is keen to make the switch against the Rockets, which is a major paradigm shift for the former first overall pick.
Anthony Davis doesn’t like to play center, but he’s willing to do it against the Rockets, sources tell @ChrisBHaynes.

Davis has previously been very resistant to center play, as evidenced by his introductory press conference with the Lakers.
“I like to play all four, I’m not even going to sugarcoat it. I like playing four, I really don’t like playing five, “Davis said.
That said, going to five against the Rockets is a different story than most other teams. PJ Tucker, who is 6ft 5in, has been playing “center” for the Rockets and was very successful against Davis in Game 1. Tucker, who made up for his lack of size with tenacity, was Davis’ main defender by 26 midfield possessions in Game 1 and the Lakers All-Star had 0 points on those possessions, according to ESPN Stats & Insights. He only attempted one shot.

When it comes to lineup changes, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has kept his cards close to the vest.
“We have to be better at many things we do. We definitely could have played better and with more rhythm, and there are some things that we can do differently too, “he said.” We’ll watch the tape, see what focus we’re going to have for Game 2 and we’ll go from there. … a bow on Game 2. Like I said, we’ll go to the treadmill, we’ll see a lot of different ways we can go, but it starts with getting better at what he did. We were too careless throwing the ball all over the court, our losses of ball and quick shots ”.
LeBron James Compares Rockets to ‘Greatest Show on Turf’
The Lakers had 17 turnovers in Game 1 that the Rockets were able to quickly turn into a whopping 27 points. Turnovers coupled with disorganized offensive possessions helped Houston increase the lead to 19 in the fourth quarter.
LeBron James, who had 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the loss, said the Rockets’ speed was shocking, comparing them to “Best Show on Grass.”
“It’s like the early 2000s when the St. Louis Rams were the best show on the grass,” James told Yahoo Sports. “People always said how they would explore them, and they would explore and explore them. Until they hit the field and they would see Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, Marshall Faulk and Az Hakim, and all those guys. And they told me: “We have to play with them again.” Because there is no way you can simulate that speed. Going out on the court and having Game 1 will give you a good feeling for it.
