Who was Logan Mwangi?

The death of a child found tragically dead in a river may have been “violent or unnatural,” an investigation was heard.

The body of five-year-old Logan Mwangi was discovered in the water near Pandy Park in Bridgend, South Wales, on July 31.

It was later revealed that he had suffered multiple injuries, including a torn liver, an internal head injury, and a broken collarbone.

The young man’s stepfather, John Cole, 39, has been charged with his murder, WalesOnline reports.

Logan’s mother, Angharad Williamson, 30, is accused of perverting the course of justice.

An investigation into the boy’s death was opened Wednesday in Pontypridd forensic court.

How old was Logan Mwangi?

He was 5 year old.

Identified

He heard that Logan was “found dead” in a river near his home address and his parents raised the alarm.

Senior Coroner Lauren Howitt said Logan was formally identified by his grandmother Claire Williamson.

A post-mortem examination was conducted on August 2, but the finding of a provisional cause of death is pending further investigation.

Coroner Rachel Knight said: “I am convinced that an investigation is necessary as there is reason to expect his death to be violent or unnatural.”

Family

Cole, from Maesglas, Ynysawdre, Bridgend, and Williamson, from Lower Llansantffraid, Sarn, Bridgend, both appeared in Crown Court in Newport on August 14.
