Lisa Rene Wiki                                                                         Lisa Rene Biography

Hall was convicted of stolen money for his role in the kidnapping, rape and murder of 16-year-old Lisa Rene, the sister of two Texan drug traffickers whom he alleged was money stolen.

The Justice Department confirmed that Orlando Hall was executed Thursday night at Terre Haute, Indiana prison.

Hall was convicted of stealing money for his role in the kidnapping, rape and murder of Lisa Rene, 16, the sister of two Texan drug traffickers who, according to him, had stolen money.

Another man involved in the crime, Bruce Webster, was also sentenced to death, but a court overturned that sentence last year because Webster was mentally disabled. Three other men were also convicted but, after working with prosecutors, received fewer sentences.

Hall was the subject of three appeals to end his execution. Hall’s attorneys argued that racial bias played a role in the conviction and that all-white juries did not get a chance to hear extenuating circumstances about Hall’s life before giving it some thought.

According to Reuters, Hall received “a lethal dose of barbiturate pentobarbital” in the execution chamber of Terre Haute’s office. Hall’s attorneys have previously denied the method of execution, arguing that federal law requires a prescription to use the drug. The appeals court gave its approval last week but did not delay the execution.

“I’m fine,” Hall said in a closing statement. “Take care. Tell my children that I love them.

According to federal documents, Hall sold marijuana in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in the early 1990s and occasionally purchased his product in the Dallas, Texas area, according to CBS DFW.

In 1994, Hall gave two brothers he met at a car wash $ 4,700 to buy marijuana, but when Hall spoke to them again, they said their car and money had been stolen. . Believing they lied, Hall and several others went to the brothers’ home in Arlington, Texas, to ask for money.

The siblings were not home according to court records, but their teenage sister Lisa Rene was home alone. The men abducted the girl and took her to a Pine Bluff motel, where they repeatedly raped her over two days.

Hall and two other men put a mask on René and took it to the Lake Byrd Nature Area, to a grave they had dug the day before. With a sheet over his head, Hall hit René on the head with a shovel. She tried to run, but Hall and another man hit her again with the shovel. They strangled her and dragged her to the grave, doused her with gasoline and removed dirt.

A coroner determined that René was still alive when she was buried and died of suffocation. Her body was found eight days later.

“My family and I are very relieved that this is over,” the victim’s sister Pearl Rene said in a statement, according to WTWO.

“We have been dealing with it for 26 years and now we have to relive the tragic nightmare our beloved Lisa went through. Finishing this painful process will be an important goal for our family. This is just the end of the legal ramifications. The execution of the Orlando Hall will never stop the suffering we continue to endure. Thank you for praying both for our family and for your family.
