Lionel Wamock Wiki – Biography of Lionel Wamock
Lionel Wamock is a former Kansas police detective who was run over by a western Kansas agent in August. He is now suing the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office after a dash camera video of the incident recently appeared online.
On Thursday, Dec. 17, the 35-year-old man filed a lawsuit for excessive force accusing Kiowa County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Rodriguez of intentionally running him over on Aug. 15 after a traffic stop, The Associated Press reported.
Womack was returning home from a business trip to California when he was chased by a highway patrol officer in western Kansas for “an alleged traffic violation,” the outlet continued. Deputies from Pratt and Kiowa counties joined the persecution, AP said.
Recently released dash cam video shows a shirtless Womack running through a field at night as a patrol van follows closely behind him and eventually knocks him down. Womack said he suffered serious injuries from the incident, The Associated Press said.
The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court in Kansas, argues that the deputy was “cruelly indifferent” to Womack’s civil rights, the outlet continued.
Rodriguez is still on patrol, The Associated Press said.
Womack comes from a “law enforcement family,” explained The Associated Press.
His wife, Zee Womack, and his mother are officers with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, while his stepfather is a retired sergeant, the outlet said. His two aunts are also police dispatchers, according to AP.
Womack left the police force in early August this year to pursue his passion for “growing his own security business,” The Associated Press continued.
