Khuram Javed Biography
Who was Khuram Javed?
Khuram Javed, 30, died after being shot three times and stabbed in the back in an alley on April 10 last year.
Tinashe Kampira, 20, Atif Mohammed, 20, and a third man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, deny murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life at Crown Court of Sheffield.
Craig Hassall QC, Prosecutor, told the court that Mr Javed had spent the night socializing with friends in a flat, while the three defendants had been seen on CCTV in the local area.
After Mr. Javed left with three friends, another friend became concerned about the defendants “loitering” in a nearby parking lot, so the group returned to the apartment, the jury was told.
Javed and his friends later followed the defendants, before two witnesses said they saw three men running down the street followed by a group of five men.
Then they heard shots.
Hassall said one of the three defendants tripped as he was running and the unidentified 19-year-old then turned and fired at Javed and his friends.
The prosecutor said: ‘The accused murderer pulled out a pistol and fired several shots. Three of the shots hit Khuram Javed.
‘One of them penetrated his heart and lungs. A post mortem examination revealed that he had also been stabbed in the back causing a wound.
‘One of the shots hit a friend of Mr Javed’s, causing a relatively minor injury to his foot.
“Each of the surviving members of that group describe trying to get out of the way, taking shelter on the side of the trail.”
Javed was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:09 p.m.
Jurors heard that Sohidul Mohamed, 24, and Saydul Mohamed, 22, then took the 19-year-old murder defendant to a safe house in Reading, Berkshire, the next day.
Both men deny helping a criminal.
Hassall told jurors that while a motive for the shooting may never be revealed, that would not be something they should consider.
The three men were captured on security cameras around the building at 4 p.m. m. and again between 7:15 p.m. m. and 8:45 p.m. m., the court was told.
One of Mr. Javed’s friends went to his car, but he became ‘unsettled’ by the 19-year-old defendant’s presence.
Mr. Javed’s group had planned to travel to Bradford together that night, but instead followed the three defendants after they left the apartment together.
A police vehicle outside a cordon around where the fatal shooting took place in Sheffield last year.
A dog walker noticed a group of three men followed by another group of five men, the court heard.
The witness then gave several strong blows, which he realized were gunshots.
Mr Hassall told the court that after the shooting stopped, Mr Javed’s fleeing friends noticed that he was “lying face down on the path” and appeared to be “already unconscious”.
A firearms expert analyzed an unfired cartridge and found that the gun was a converted blank cartridge with a ball bearing inserted into the top of the casing.
One went through Mr. Javed’s thigh, the other went through his right upper back and neck, and the last fatal shot was fired at close range into Mr. Javed’s right upper arm, going through the chest, right lung , heart and left lung.
There was also a 9.5cm stab wound to the back, the court heard.
The court heard that three figures were seen entering an underpass after the shooting and a taxi had been booked from Kimpara’s phone.
He denies any involvement, as he told police he was at his mother’s address from 2 p.m. until midnight, and he said he didn’t have a phone.
The trial, which is expected to last until mid-March, continues.
