Khloemae Loy Wiki
Khloemae Loy Biography
Who was Khloemae Loy ?
A serial abuser has been jailed for 23 years for stabbing his girlfriend to death at a Holiday Inn.
Taye Francis, 40, already had convictions for rape and violence when she killed 23-year-old Khloemae Loy in a London hotel room last July.
The “self-obsessed” man sent a photo of Khloemae as she lay dead on a bed to her attorney saying “I killed my girlfriend” as she called 999, jurors at the Old Bailey heard.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at a Holiday Inn in Greenwich, southeast London.
Prosecutor Kate Lumsdon QC had told jurors that it was not a problem if Francis killed her, but that they should consider whether she was suffering from any mental conditions at the time.
Judge Mark Lucraft QC
Judge Mark Lucraft QC said that Francis must spend at least 23 years in prison.
Ms. Loy was particularly vulnerable, and Francis’s long history of violence against women was a “hugely significant factor,” Judge Lucraft said.
During Francis’s sentencing, the court heard that the 40-year-old had a series of prior convictions.
In 2001, under her original name Ashley Wyatt, he was found guilty of kidnapping an ex-girlfriend of hers at her lunch break and raping her on a train and again at a home.
He received a six-year sentence for kidnapping, rape and possession of a sharp item, and was placed on the s*x offender registry for life.
Jurors heard in 2013 that Francis was convicted of assaulting another woman and then sending her a message that read, “I’m going to kill you, I’m going to stab you in the neck and trap your family.”
Three years later, Francis was again convicted of assaulting an ex-partner during a domestic dispute.
Mrs Loy was found dead in a room at the Holiday Inn on the Greenwich Peninsula
Met Ms Loy in a pub near Croydon College where she was studying in 2017, she heard the court.
On July 4 of last year, the couple made a reservation at the Greenwich Holiday Inn Express.
The next morning, Francis called 999 and told the operator; “Quick, my girlfriend is dying, I stabbed her in the neck.”
While still on the line with the ambulance operator, Francis sent a photo to Ms. Loy’s attorneys that she was lying dead in bed with the message, “I killed my girlfriend.”
In a statement on the victim’s impact, Ms. Loy’s parents said: “Taye tricked her into entering her world.
“He tried to manipulate and control Khloemae from the beginning. He took her away from her family and friends and physically and emotionally abused her.”
“Taye has taken Khloemae’s life, but by doing so she has also ruined ours.”
Francis and Khloemae met at a pub where he worked in South London.
In 2017, the defendant assaulted Khloemae and threw her into a container on wheels, the jury was told.
At the time, he was found guilty and sentenced to 20 weeks with a restraining order.
Ms. Lumsdon told jurors: “Her parents encouraged Khloemae to leave Mr. Francis. Khloemae said she couldn’t leave him or she would attack Mr. and Mrs. Loy.”
“The records paint a picture, you may think, of an aggressive and controlling man and a worried, scared woman who is struggling with her mental health.”
The day before Khloemae’s murder, she canceled a shopping trip with her mother, saying that she was going to the coast to meet Francis’s parents.
The next day, Khloemae was found lying on a bed in a hotel in Greenwich with a deep cut on her neck.
Francis was hanging from a ledge outside, having tossed a small backpack and suitcase out the window.
The defendant, who had cuts to his body and had recently taken steroids, was finally treated by emergency services, placed in an induced coma and taken to hospital.
A set of knives was found in the hotel room; a receipt showed they had been bought just a week before the attack at a supermarket in Sutton, police said.
Francis and Khloemae had been in an on-off relationship since around 2015, the court heard.
Jurors were told that he had begun to suspect that people wanted to harm him, and that his paranoia was believed to have been fueled by the abuse of steroids found at the scene.
