“Kevin was a loving husband, best friend, and soul mate to his wife. Dad to his only child, stepfather, grandfather, brother and uncle who had just celebrated his wife’s birthday. He will be deeply missed.
“We, as a family, are devastated by the loss of him. We would respectfully request privacy at this time to allow us to mourn and come to terms with this devastating incident.”
Callum Crosbie Charged
Greater Manchester Police have charged Callum Crosbie, 22, of Newcastle, with murder.
A downtown worker, who did not want to be named, said the victim had tried to act as a “peacemaker” and “defuse” the fight.
“There was a group of guys who were fighting and the man tried to calm him down,” he said.
But one of the boys hit him and he fell unconscious to the ground.
“ He was just trying to act as a peacemaker and ended up losing his life. ”
The worker also claimed that the man had gone out for his 60th birthday with his wife, but this has not been confirmed.
Another witness who had seen the fight described the man’s death as “terrible.”

A bar worker confirmed the incident occurred outside of a Walkabout.

Detectives have called for witnesses who may have filmed the incident to come forward.
Detective Inspector Mark Davis of the GMP Major Incidents Team said: “This was a tragic incident in which a man who was not involved in the riot lost his life, leaving his family understandably devastated.
“ The cordon has been removed and officers are on the scene conducting investigations, but we are eager to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time as we believe multiple people were filming the incident and those videos may prove crucial to our research.
