Katrina Patricia Nadine Gorrie Biography
Katrina Patricia Nadine Gorrie, 33, and Timothy Andrew Butler, 29, convinced a Sydney man to get into their car in Noosa on April 14, 2019, before holding him captive, torturing him and stealing money from him.
Judge Deborah Richards, who allowed Gorrie to be paroled in Maroochydore District Court, described her release as “on the edge of a knife.”Gorrie and Butler had been drinking at the Noosa Sofitel with the tourist and his friends before he was kidnapped.
He pleaded guilty to seven counts, including deprivation of liberty and assault, but was granted immediate parole after serving 227 days in custody since his arrest.
Gorrie and Butler were drinking at the Noosa Sofitel with the man and his friends before he was kidnapped.
The court heard that Gorrie owns two Gold Coast hair salons, had a ‘stable’ relationship and two children, the youngest being 14 months.
Judge Richards drew attention to Gorrie’s previous violence, she said that she had lied to the police when they questioned her and that she had shown no remorse.
“So even though it is a razor’s edge, at the end of the day I have decided that I am going to let him go on parole today,” Judge Richards said.
The well-being of Gorrie’s children and his business were important factors in Judge Richards’ decision to release her on parole.
