Kalabe Legesse Wiki
Kalabe Legesse Biography
Kalabe Legesse was the victim of what is believed to be a random attack on Friday December 30 when he was “minding his own business” at Peckham Rye Park.
He suffered serious stab wounds and was discovered at 8:24 p.m. m. near a cafe on Strakers Road in the park.
Despite the best efforts of the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance crews, the 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene half an hour later.
Attack
Mr. Legesse’s family was informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
Police officers described the incident as a “senseless and brutal attack”.
Officers are now asking for information and are searching for two suspects who were seen fleeing the park on pedal bikes in the moments after the ‘brutal and senseless’ attack.
Suspect
Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin, of the Met’s Crime Command, said: “Kalabe’s family and friends were devastated by his death, which occurred after a brutal and senseless attack when he was simply sitting in the park, dealing with their own affairs.”
“We have been working tirelessly to identify those responsible and are eager to hear from anyone who has been in or around the park, particularly in the area near the cafeteria and playground, around 8 p.m.
Investigation
“At this early stage of the investigation, we believe we are looking for two suspects who were riding pedal bikes and who fled the scene towards Peckham Rye.”
After the stabbing, a New Year’s Eve run scheduled to take place at the park was cancelled.
