Who is Kajetan Migdal ?
An 18-year-old “overjoyed” who was attacked on his way home from a school prom on Friday has died today.
Kajetan Migdal received fatal injuries in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, at around 11:20 p.m.
He was taken to Lister Hospital but died early Saturday morning.
An 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Kajetan’s aunt, Corrie Everett of Texas, has now created a GoFundMe page in her memory to raise money for funeral and travel costs.
Nearly $13,000 (£10,300) has been pledged so far.
Family
Mrs. Everett wrote: “As a family, we are completely shocked and devastated by this great loss. She had her whole life ahead of her and an exciting summer planned.
“She leaves behind her parents (my sister Gemma and her husband Janusz), along with her younger brother Fabian and our extended family around the world.”
She added, in a statement from her family: ‘Kajetan was a loving young man, full of joy and with a bright future. He was known for his love of dance, animals, hard work and caring friendships.
“We would like to bring everyone together to support my sister, her husband and their youngest son and give Kajetan the funeral he deserves.”
“All money raised will go towards our family’s travel and funeral expenses.”
Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crimes Unit said: “Although an arrest has been made, we are continuing down a number of lines of inquiry and are still calling on witnesses or anyone with information about what happened to contact us.
‘I would like to thank those who have come forward so far.
Extensive investigations are underway to help establish the sequence of events before and after the fatal incident. Specialist officers are supporting the victim’s family and we ask that their privacy be respected at this time.”
Anyone who believes they witnessed the incident, or believes they may have dash cam footage, is asked to contact police via the non-emergency number, 101, citing reference 948 from May 27.
‘As a high achiever academically and in his hobbies, he was up for great things. He had just finished school and had his life ahead of him. The entire family is devastated by the loss of a much loved relative, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
