Kailia Posey Biography
Who was Kailia Posey ?
Kailia Posey, 16, the child star who appeared on the reality show Toddlers and Tiaras, has taken her own life, her family said Tuesday.
‘I have no words or thoughts. A beautiful girl is gone,” Posey’s mother, Marcy Posey Gatterman, posted on Facebook, confirming her daughter’s death.
Gatterman later told TMZ in a statement that her daughter “made the rash decision to end her earthly life.”
Posey’s family has established the Kailia Posey Teen Crisis Intervention Fund with the goal of obtaining “much-needed resources for students in crisis.”
Her body was found Monday inside a car in a park in Washington state.
Birch Bay State Park, where Posey was first discovered by authorities, is a 194-acre state park located along the shoreline of the Strait of Georgia, about nine miles from the Canadian border, and features a picturesque rocky beach and a large camping ground.
Posey had just celebrated her 16th birthday on April 19 and attended her high school prom over the weekend.
As a child, Posey starred in Toddlers and Tiaras
As a child, Posey starred in Toddlers and Tiaras, a TLC series that followed families of children who compete in beauty pageants. The reality show appeared for seven seasons from 2009 to 2013.
Posey began competing in pageants when she was three years old. She became a popular meme after she was caught grinning from ear to ear during a segment of Toddlers and Tiaras.
She kept up with the pageant circuit throughout her childhood and teenage years, most recently competing for the title of Miss Washington Teen USA in February.
Although she was not crowned the winner of the February competition, Ella Posey did win the title of Miss Lynden Teen USA last year.
She performed contortion with Cirque du Soleil and was apparently passionate about the art form, having launched a specific Instagram account dedicated to it.
She also played the role of Agnes in the 2018 Netflix movie Eli.
Posey was a freshman at Lynden High School in Washington, the district confirmed to DailyMail.com. According to her Miss Washington Teen biography of her, she was named to the Dean’s List for the 2020-21 school year.
Her mother announced last week that Posey had earned a spot on the high school cheerleading football team for the upcoming season.
After high school, the teenager planned to study aviation in college and become a commercial pilot.
On April 23, the teen made what ended up being her last Instagram post, revealing that she was on a cruise.
She captioned the photo of her, which showed her on the boat wearing a red crop top and skirt, “none of your business” and included the following hashtags: #fun #friends #mylove #cruise.
Posey posted a photo
Last month, Posey posted a photo of herself doing a backflip off a cliff in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
‘Peace love respect Jamaica,’ the teen captioned the photo of the dangerous stunt and included #daredevil in the post.
While many of her fans applauded the teen for her risky stunt, her pageant coach, Cambrie Littlefield, issued a warning to the teen.
“This picture stresses me out be careful lol,” Littlefield wrote. Posey responded with a devil emoji.
Littlefield’s most recent Instagram post, published on April 8, also featured a photo of her holding a young Posey. He wears a shirt that says “Kailia’s Coach”.
Happy Parade Day from me and my not-so-little princesses!! the coach captioned the photo.
Littlefield has not yet made a public statement about Posey’s death, but she updated her Facebook profile picture on Tuesday in tribute to the teenager.
Posey’s loved ones and fans have taken to social media to share their heartbreak and condolences in the wake of the teenager’s passing.
‘I can’t even believe this happened. I’m praying that you guys get through this. She was always very kind to all of us. She rests in peace,’ America’s Got Talent magician Kadan Rockett wrote in his most recent Instagram post.
“Thank you for being someone who looks up to Kailia,” said Mariah Derby-Wine, another competitor in the pageant. ‘May she rest in peace.’
“Sending prayers to her family,” said Kennedi Johnston, who performed on NBC’s World of Dance.
‘There really are no words right now that can make this any easier. Our sweet pageant baby is gone too soon. 16 years wasn’t enough,” contest makeup artist Natasha Shunta Winn wrote in a tribute post on Facebook.
‘Knowing Kailia Deliz Posey was loving her. So beautiful and sweet. Our circle of parades has been broken. She will miss you so much.’
