One of the three Colorado teens charged in the stone-throwing spree that killed a young motorist last week reportedly had a history of “destructive behavior,” and a neighbor said she wasn’t surprised to learn he was involved in the fatal mischief.

High school senior Joseph Koenig, who was arrested this week along with Nicholas “Mitch” Karol-Chik and Zachary Kwak, was known for “destructive behavior” and “causing chaos” even before the horrific incident. who killed 20-year-old Alexa Bartell. his friend Joseph Bopp told authorities in an affidavit obtained by CPR News.

Bopp was with the suspects, all 18 years old, when they loaded landscaping rocks from Walmart into Karol-Chik’s truck, according to the affidavit.

Feeling uncomfortable, he asked for a ride home before the trio threw the rock that hit the windshield of the car Bartell was driving on the night of April 19.

One of Koenig’s neighbors, who asked not to be named, said his arrest “was not a surprise.”

“There were discussions and concerns in the neighborhood about actions that he had taken in the past,” he told CBS News Colorado.

However, he said that she was heartbroken by Bartell’s death.

Alexa Bartlett, 20, was killed with a rock to the head last week.

“As a mother, to hear someone’s child suffer a catastrophic and unexpected injury and be taken away so abruptly, and then be linked to his neighborhood, to his school, is heartbreaking,” she said.

Karol-Chik later told police that he and Kwak began throwing rocks and statues at drivers in February, the outlet said.

He also alleged that Kwak threw the rock that hit Bartell’s windshield while Koenig was driving on the night of April 19.

Bartell’s windshield was smashed by a landscaping rock.

Authorities also shared that the trio backed up and took a photo of Bartell’s wrecked vehicle as a creepy souvenir.

Koenig’s father, Mark Edwin Koenig, was also arrested this week and charged with obstructing officers as they tried to speak to his son.
