A mother whose 15-year-old daughter died of Covid on the day she was due to be vaccinated, warned that children were too ‘indifferent’ to the virus as she paid tribute to her ‘beautiful’ and ‘brave’ girl.

Despite being hooked up to a ventilator, the aspiring musician never stabilized because her heart was under too much strain and she died on September 28, just four days after receiving PCR test results from her.

Preliminary results from the hospital’s medical examiner indicate that Jorja had Covid myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart caused by the virus.

Her mother, Tracey Halliday, 40, said: ‘They realized how serious it was and they still let me touch her, hold her hand, hold her and everything else.

They let me. I’m at a point where I can’t understand what happened.

I was with her the whole time. They tried to put her on a ventilator so that her body would have a chance to recover. Her heart rate did not stabilize. Her heart couldn’t bear the strain.

They worked as well as I think they could medically, but they couldn’t save her. She had the best care, I know they did everything they could to save her. ‘

The devastated mother now fears that the children are too “indifferent” to the virus, and the parents assume that her children will simply recover.

She continued: ‘She was going to have the jab on Tuesday. But since she tested positive on Saturday, she was isolating herself. When her period of isolation was over, she was going to get it.

What is myocarditis?
Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle. There are no specific causes for the condition, but it is usually caused by a virus, including Covid.

Some of the most common infections that cause myocarditis are called adenovirus and Coxsackie B.

It can also be caused by the common cold, hepatitis B and C, and the herpes simplex virus.

The most common symptoms of the condition include chest pain, fever, rapid heartbeat, tiredness, and shortness of breath.

If inflammation damages the heart muscle or the fibers that carry electrical pulses to the heart, complications can develop.

They can develop rapidly and include sudden loss of consciousness, abnormally fast, slow, or irregular heartbeats.

In very serious cases, the condition is fatal, causing heart failure or sudden death. Inflammation enlarges the heart and creates scar tissue, forcing it to work harder and thus weakening it.

In most cases of viral myocarditis, the disease goes away and there are no complications.

But in rare cases when the inflammation is severe, there may be damage to the heart that needs monitoring and possibly a heart transplant.

Earlier this month, ministers confirmed plans to vaccinate all children over the age of 12 in the UK.

Vaccine Minister Nadhim Zahawi confirmed plans to offer a single Pfizer prick to healthy children ages 12 to 15 during a speech in the House of Commons.

However, amid fears that the policy could lead to family arguments, he told MPs: ‘Whatever decision is made, they (the children) must be supported. No one should be stigmatized, no one should be intimidated for making a decision ”.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Sajid Javid said in a tweet: ‘I have accepted the unanimous recommendation of UK medical directors to offer vaccination to 12-15 year olds.

“This will protect young people from contracting Covid-19, reduce transmission in schools, and help keep students in the classroom.”

The decision was made when the NAHT teachers union demanded that doctors ensure that doctors are held accountable for concerns about consent and vaccination rather than leaving it up to schools, which could lead to tension with parents.

The children’s rights campaign group UsforThem said it needed a “cast iron guarantee” from the government that all parents would have the final say on whether their child was vaccinated.

It came about when Professor Whitty revealed that children could override their parents’ decision by passing a “proficiency assessment” by the medical professional charged with administering the test.
