                     Jordan DeMay Biography

Three Nigerian men were involved in a s*xtortion plot involving 17-year-old star athlete Jordan DeMay that resulted in the Michigan teen taking his own life in 2022.

According to federal prosecutors, the scammers posed as a teenager on Instagram and convinced DeMay to send them s*xually suggestive photos. They then collected information about him and promised to give the photos to his friends and family unless he paid them $1,000.

Hours after the threat was made, DeMay, a student at Marquette Senior High School, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Charged

Samuel Ogoshi, 22, Samson Ogoshi, 20, and Ezekiel Ejehem Robert, 19, all from Lagos, Nigeria, were charged this week in connection with DeMay’s death. The tragedy sparked a major investigation involving Michigan authorities and the FBI.

“All you have to do is cooperate with me and I won’t expose you,” Ogoshi wrote to DeMay, the feds say. Despite spending more than $300, the threats continued.

The trio gained access to the hacked Instagram account of a woman named Dani.Roberts and used it to contact DeMay.

‘I’m kms rn Bc of you’, DeMay replied in one of the messages.

‘Good. Do that fast. Or I’ll make you do it. I swear to God,’ read the reply.

For his alleged direct involvement in contacting DeMay, Ogoshi is charged with s*xual exploitation and attempted s*xual exploitation of a minor resulting in death.

If he is found guilty, he could face life in prison.

All three are charged with conspiracy to s*xually exploit minors, conspiracy to distribute child pornography, and conspiracy to commit Internet harassment.

Statement

In a statement following the announcement of the charges, DeMay’s mother, Jennifer Buta, said: “As parents, we cannot imagine what Jordan went through that night and how frightened he was by this senseless act.”

US Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Mark Totten said more than 100 youths across the country had been attacked by the Nigerian gang.

Prosecutors say DeMay tried to pay his extortionists $300 but they weren’t satisfied and demanded $1,000.
Totten said the three men are in the process of being extradited from Nigeria with the cooperation of local authorities. The investigation continues, the prosecutor said.

 GoFundMe

A GoFundMe page has been created to help support the DeMay family. As of this writing, the page has raised almost $25,000.

“They told her they had all her contacts from Facebook and more from other social media, as well as her nude photo,” Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt told The Sun in March 2022.

Then they said they would start sending the image. Jordan said he couldn’t pay them any more money.

“He said you win, and he was going to kill himself, and they said go ahead,” added Sheriff Zyburt.
