Coronation Street legend Johnny Briggs removed his drug addicted daughter from his £ 550,000 will, it has been revealed.

Johnny, who died in February at age 85, was on the ITV soap opera for 30 years, playing Cockney businessman Mike Baldwin.

John Ernest Briggs MBE was an English actor. He was known for his role as Mike Baldwin in the soap opera Coronation Street, in which he appeared from 1976 to 2006. Wikipedia

The actor made £ 200,000 a year on the show before leaving Weatherfield in 2006.

His fortune in the United Kingdom and his assets in the United States, including a house in Florida, remained in the hands of five of his six children.

The Sun has revealed how the soap opera star deliberately omitted her eldest daughter, Karen Briggs, from her will after he disowned her in 1980.

The relationship broke down after 55-year-old Karen allegedly gave her own 14-year-old daughter Class A drugs.

In a statement following her death, her family said: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Johnny Briggs.

‘He passed away peacefully this morning after a long illness, with his family by his side. He was 85 years old.

He played the head of the underwear factory Mike Baldwin on Coronation Street from 1976 to 2006 and received an MBE in 2007.

He appeared in 2,349 episodes, including a 2012 special as a ghost, and is best remembered for his famous fight with Ken Barlow, played by Bill Roache, after he had an affair with his wife Deirdre, played by the late Anne Kirkbride.

The love triangle between the three was very popular with viewers and went on for years.

In the 1980s, the story helped attract 21 million viewers at its peak.
