John Avers died from multiple injuries

An autopsy revealed that John had died from multiple injuries.

Police are still looking for suspects after the horror of the coup and the escape last Sunday.

A murder investigation has been launched, but no arrests have been made.

Local residents say a burned-out BMW was found nearby, but police have not confirmed whether this was involved in the murder.

Shahid Khattack

Shahid Khattack, manager of the neighboring Iceland branch returning to the scene, saw the victim lying in the parking lot after the attack.

The 32-year-old said: “I was about to leave the store from the back when I saw paramedics and emergency services.

“They were still working on him, pumping his chest, doing CPR and trying to save him. It was shocking to see it.

Murder probe

Mr. Khattack added: “The people I spoke to who saw him said he was run over four or five times.”

Another resident said he heard a man groan on the ground before seeing the car crash into him and then pounce on him again.

He added, “At first he was so shocked he couldn’t tell what really happened, then he turned around and started moving again.”

The police are now calling witnesses.

Mark Wrigley, chief inspector for North Met’s crime specialist team, said: “My thoughts are with John’s family at this sad time.

“My officers and I believe that John was deliberately injured and we are treating this incident as a homicide investigation. We use all available tactics to identify those responsible for John’s death.

“I know there were people in the area and I ask them to tell us what they saw or heard. If you know anything about this horrible crime, don’t keep it to yourself. “”
