Jodie Leigh Fox got her dream job driving buses three years ago after seeing an advertisement on the back of one of the public transportation vehicles.
The 24-year-old, from Brentwood, Essex, enjoys the job so much that she hopes to continue until she retires in more than forty years.
A former caregiver who became a bus driver at age 21 has said that she regularly has to put up with being told by people that she is “too pretty to be a bus driver.”
But ever since she started, Jodie says that she has been inundated with comments from passengers about her appearance.
“I have received so many comments from passengers, mainly men,” Jodie said.

When men get on the bus, I always have the same reaction, which is usually ‘you are so pretty’ or ‘I have never seen such a beautiful bus driver in my life’.
“People have said I’m too pretty to be a bus driver, but I get some nice comments from other women who compliment me and my nails or my hair and makeup.”
Her looks and youth have also made it difficult for her to socialize with her colleagues, Jodie says.
“There are no women of a similar age to me,” she said.
“I’ve made friends with a few people in the garage, but I usually get my service card and then go out for my shift.”

Despite the difficult aspects of the job, Jodie has always wanted to drive buses ever since she realized her fascination with being close to the front line as a child.
She says that she hopes she can fight the stereotypical image of a bus driver during her long career ahead of her.

Jodie explained: “When I left my job as a caregiver, I realized that I had always been intrigued by driving buses.

“ I always sat close to the front close to the driver and loved to drive so I made the dream come true.
“I had to do a lot of tests to become a bus driver; it is not easy as people think. You have to take an English and math test and about five different modules before you finally do your theory. ‘

She added: ‘I didn’t think I would fly the way I did.
“ I’ve posted videos before, but not in a work uniform and it wasn’t until I posted that I was a bus driver that people went crazy about it.
‘I love my job; I hope to do this until I retire! ‘
