Jeremy Durst, 30, of Miami, Florida, signed up for his first bike race so he could propose to his girlfriend Sara Frank, 30.
Footage shows the dirt bike sliding away from the racer and crashing into a fence at the Motorama racing event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The enthusiastic motorcyclist fell injured, stood up, and then turned to turn his back on the crowd.
An official ran up to him, cunningly handing him the ring in the process, before Sara ran from the stands to her boyfriend.
When he leaned over to check on his partner, he was down on one knee holding a ring, causing Sara to recoil in surprise.

With thousands in attendance, he contacted the race organizers to pitch his idea, saying that he would pass one of them through the ring before the race.
During the race, he was in last place and then simulated an accident on his last lap.
Jeremy put on a GoPro and did so, but during the race he inadvertently passed another runner, meaning he would have to slow down to let that runner pass.

“At first, I was confused. He wasn’t sure what happened to the bike to cause an accident like this.
Then they told me to go check on him and then my confusion turned to worry when I saw him kneeling on the ground. He hoped he wasn’t hurt.
“After the ring was removed, I think it’s obvious from the video that he was in total shock, I didn’t see this happen at all.
Once the shock of what was happening wore off and I realized that I was not hurt, I was overjoyed.
“I felt incredibly special and loved that he had thought and planned so much for me.” Who is
