Jenny Hayes is a Melbourne native, accused of lighting a fire that killed three people, including a three-week-old baby, she sobbed and shook her head as she vowed to fight the charges.

Ms. Hayes pleaded not guilty to six counts in Melbourne Magistrates Court for the Point Cook fire in December last year that left Abigail Forrest, her partner Inderpal Singh and her daughter Ivy dead.

She is accused of starting the fire in the early hours of December 2 of last year that destroyed the upper floor of the Totem Way home.

Inderpal Singh, 28, Abigail Forrest, 19, and her baby Ivy Forrest were inside.

In December of last year, emergency services were called to a fire on Totem Way in Point Cook, where they found the three bodies.

Ms. Hayes was arrested a day later and charged with murder and arson that caused death.The 46-year-old woman did not submit a request for bail and she was held in custody until her next appearance in the Supreme Court in May.

Victims

Ivy, the couple’s only daughter, was just three weeks old when she died.

Her father, Inderpal Singh, was 28 and her mother, Abbey Forrest, 19.

Abbey’s sister, Emily Forrest, paid an emotional tribute to her younger brother after the tragedy, saying that she had the “biggest and boldest personality.”

“She was an amazing mom; she just took it like a duck in the water. I’m incredibly proud of her, “Emily said.

“She was absolutely in love. She was so excited to become a mom and she did so well. ”

Emily said that her sister’s partner, Indi, was a “very loving man” who adored Abbey and her daughter.

Ms. Hayes sometimes rocked back and forth with her head in her hands during the short court hearing.

The rest of the time she sat with her arms crossed on the table in front of her, crying continuously as lawyers and a magistrate discussed her case.

Appearing via a custody video link, her red hair had been cut off and she was wearing a shapeless blue sweater.

“You seem a bit upset,” Magistrate Timothy Bourke commented as he presented her case.

Fawkner’s wife, a s*x worker, did not know any of her alleged victims, police said after the tragic day.

The alleged circumstances of the fire have not yet been aired in court.

But Ms. Hayes will soon face trial in the Victoria Supreme Court for the alleged triple murder.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for next week.

Ms. Hayes will appear in Supreme Court shortly on May 6.
