A woman was charged with the murder of a pensioner whose headless body was found in a forest two weeks after she disappeared from her London home.
Mee Kuen Chong, 67, known to her friends as Deborah, was found around 5 p.m. near Bennett Road in Salcombe, Devon. June 27th.
Jemma Mitchell, 36, of Brondesbury Park in Brent, northwest London, was charged with the murder, according to police.
She was arrested Tuesday night at a residential address in Kilburn and will be detained later that day in Willesden District Court.
Ms. Chong was reported missing from her Wembley home on June 11.
Her death was initially deemed inexplicable by Devon and Cornish police investigations.
Forced investigations into South Devon and the London area led to a murder investigation by the Met’s Special Crime Command on Tuesday.
The crime scenes remain in two residential buildings in North West London and in the woods of South Devon.
Police searches are expected to continue for the next several days, the Met added.
In a statement, the force said: “Jemma Mitchell, 36, of Brondesbury Park, Brent, was arrested on Tuesday, July 6.
She “She will appear in custody in Willesden District Court on Saturday July 10.”
An autopsy was performed last week at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, but the cause of death has yet to be determined.
Ms. Chong was originally from Malaysia, but she has lived at Wembley for over 30 years.
Her family is informed of the new development and is supported by trained agents.
