A Belgian supermodel, Jade Lagardère, married to a French millionaire, paid 15,000 euros for a proxy to take her driving test, according to a court.

The wife of the billionaire owner of Hachette, one of the largest publishers in Britain, paid 15,000 euros for an accomplice to take the driving test at her place, according to a French court .

Jade Lagardère, 30, appeared in court in Pontoise, France, after police noticed another woman driving on a tape of her alleged test in 2015.

Prosecutors demanded that the mother of three, who is married to Hachette’s 60-year-old owner, Arnaud Lagardère, be fined 6,000 euros for alleged fraud.

She already had a Belgian driver’s license but, according to local reports, she wanted to be made French.

The model and comic book writer was tried along with two other women accused of the same crime, her bodyguard and officials accused of bribery.

An anonymous source told police that driving examiners in Argenteuil, near Paris, were accepting cash to facilitate testing, The Times reports.

Lagardère asked her bodyguard, a former police officer, to pay the examiner to take a look when the other woman took the test for her, the court heard.

Instructors, examiners and local government officials were involved in the recurring crimes, prosecutors said.

She denied the allegations and said she was unaware of the actions of her bodyguard.

In court she said: 15,000 euros? But it is huge, it is the price of a car. ”

Lagardère did not obtain a French driver’s license after the test in question and she has since received one from another test.

Prosecutors requested that two officers, a licensing officer and an examiner, be sentenced to prison terms.

They said seven of his co-defendants should be fined up to 9,000 euros each. The judges have yet to set a date for their verdict.

Lagardère married Arnaud in 2013 and the couple have three children together.

She is the author of the comic Amber Blake and a popular celebrity in France.

Her husband inherited Hachette, owner of British publishers Headline, Hodder and Stoughton and Quercus, from her father from her father in 2003.

Since she took control of the company, profits have fallen from € 12.5 billion (£ 10.8 million) to € 4.4 billion (£ 3.8 million).
