A heartbroken mother paid tribute to her ‘sweet sweet’ child today after her 10-year-old son was attacked to death by an American pit bull dog while visiting a friend after school.
Police said she called after screams were heard coming from a home in Caerphilly where children were playing Monday afternoon.

Neighbors were unable to save Jack Lis from the attack and the dog was subsequently killed by armed police at the house in South Wales.
In an emotional post on Facebook, her mother Emma Whitfield, 32, wrote: ‘I have to announce that our beautiful boy Jack was so tragically abducted yesterday. He was not our dog nor did it happen in our family home.
‘He was out to play. We love you so much, our sweet, sweet child. ‘
Jack lived on a neighboring street, but stopped by his friend’s house on the way home. Pupils from the nearby Cwm Ifor primary school in Penyrheol returned home together before the attack at 3.55pm.
Chief Superintendent Mark Hobrough Statement
Gwent Police Chief Superintendent Mark Hobrough said in a statement: ‘My condolences and thoughts go out to Jack’s family, friends, school friends and all those affected by this within the community.
We can confirm that the attack did not occur at the house owned by Jack’s family, but inside another property on a nearby street.
“Officers continue to conduct further investigations at this time and will remain at the scene as the investigation progresses.”

Jack was described as ‘fun loving and full of life’ with dark hair and freckles by other shocked parents.
Neighbor Tracey Lawrence said the alarm was raised by a tragic friend of Jack’s who ran out of the house when the animal attacked in the hallway.
She said: ‘The boy who lives there ran up to the neighbor and said,’ My dog has killed my friend. My neighbor went and tried to push the door open, but the dog had grabbed onto the boy’s leg.wikipedia
Everyone was in the street crying. He was hideous here. Everyone was upset. ”
The dog was about 15 months old and was described by other villagers as a “problem”. Tracey said: ‘The children were too young to be home alone. Especially with a dog like that.
‘The last time I saw the dog it was just a little puppy, but seeing it yesterday was like:’ Oh my God.
“The police were distracting the dog away from the boy and he was in the sink with huge muscles in his shoulders.”
Neighbor Kirk Wiegold struggled to get the dog out of little Jack, but he described the animal as ‘just too fierce to do anything’.
One family member said: “I wish I could have done more, but think it is too late. He’s really upset about it, it was a horrible thing to see. ”
A mother in the school career said: ‘He was an American bulldog. He had shot the neighbors before and was seen running down the street.wikipedia
The boy did not live there. He had just been on the school bus and had gone to visit his friend. I couldn’t live with that knowing that someone else’s child has died in my care. ‘
The school principal, Gareth Rees, held special talks with staff and students ‘shocked’ by the tragedy. He said, ‘It’s a very difficult day.’
The dog was shot by police shooters and its owner is being interviewed by the police. Neighbors said the dog was known to be troublesome and rumored to have bitten another man and killed a cat in recent weeks.
Parents living on the street in Penyrheol, Caerphilly, say they returned home after the school race to see the police.
One mother, who lives a few doors down from the scene, said: ‘I had no idea what happened until I got home and saw the police. I can’t imagine what the family is going through. ”
Police with 12 force vehicles sealed off the road shortly after the attack occurred and dozens of officers remained at the scene.
Chairman of the Governors Lindsey Whittle said: “It is too tragic to put into words. I’m crying just thinking about what happened. I have spoken to the director and it will be very difficult to tell all his friends and colleagues what happened.

‘This is a town in a state of shock. I am heartbroken for her poor parents and we are all devastated. ”
A Gwent police spokesman said: “We were called to an address in Pentwyn, Penyrhoel, Caerphilly around 3.55pm on Monday 8th November, following reports of a dog attack.
Officers, including firearms officers, attended, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, who confirmed that a 10-year-old boy had died at the scene.
“The dog was destroyed by firearms officers and no other animals were involved in the attack.”
Police said investigations into the attack were continuing.
Councilman Steve Skivens said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the young man who lost his life.
‘We would also like to extend our thought to all the emergency services that attended the incident. Unfortunately, an animal had to be euthanized.
‘We await details from the police. It is a tragic, tragic loss of a young life. ”
Forensic officers remain at the scene Monday night with another police car also present and several houses cordoned off while officers controlled access to the scene.
