Do you think you’ve had some bad dates? A Memphis woman says hers went from bad to worse when a man allegedly abducted, beat and robbed her after fleeing the police.
According to court documents, the victim told police that she met Jabari Albritton at a gas station five months ago in Sardis, Mississippi, and that the two began seeing each other.
She said they went to the mall for dinner on August 13, and then the date took a dangerous turn.
Victim
The victim said Albritton, who was driving, started making donuts on the street and then fled from police officers.
She said they stopped at a gas station and she got out of the car, but he grabbed her by the neck, forced her back into the car at gunpoint and fired into the air.
She said that at some point, Albritton damaged a tire and demanded that she pay for the repair.
The victim told police that he took her to a Regions Bank in a mall in the 3500 block of Mendenhall in Memphis and had her hand over her ATM card and PIN.
The victim said she intentionally gave Albritton the wrong number for her, and when he found out, she hit her with a pistol and ripped a $ 2,500 wedding ring from her finger.
The woman said he also put a gun to her head and mouth and told her that if she didn’t give him her number, she would blow her head off. She then she fired a shot on the floor of the car.
Charged
As Albritton tried to re-enter a PIN on the ATM, the victim said he jumped out of the car and ran to the Q Mart gas station in the same mall.
Police said he went to the bathroom for help and Allbritton fled the scene in a red Mustang with a flat tire.
Albritton was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Tuesday. He faces charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
