Who is Ingo Rademacher ?

General Hospital actor Ingo Rademacher is suing ABC after he was fired from the popular soap opera for refusing to comply with a vaccination mandate on set.

Rademacher, 50, who played Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks on the show for 25 years, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Monday, alleging that he had previously applied for a religious exemption to receive the coronavirus vaccine, after his Castmate Steve Burton tested positive. for COVID in August.

However, his request, along with Burton’s, were denied by the television network. Previously, the couple had been openly opponents of the coronavirus vaccine mandate that went into effect in part of the set, known as Zone A, on November 1, where the actors could initially work unmasked.

Zone A is where the cast and crew generally work physically closer to each other, sometimes without Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), while the cameras are shooting.

Before their layoffs, ABC held a 30-minute interview with both actors to give them a chance to prove their religious status, but the network clearly didn’t buy it. After the decision was made, Burton decided not to press legal charges.

“Unfortunately, ‘General Hospital’ let me go due to the vaccine mandate,” Burton said in an Instagram video on November 23. The actor previously tested positive for COVID-19 in August and made his appearance on the show on October 27.

“I applied for my medical and religious exemptions and they were both denied, which, you know, hurts,” he added. But for me it’s also about personal freedom. I don’t think anyone should lose their livelihood over this. ‘

Rademacher, who was fired in early November, called ABC’s decision a violation of his right to privacy under the California Constitution.

In court documents obtained by the Dailymail.com, the actor refers to the start of the pandemic, saying that the first COVID-19 vaccines were developed under the Trump Administration, leading many Democrats, including now-President Biden, to be initially skeptical.

He also called the lockdown rules the “most draconian restrictions in modern history” and ABC’s actions as “blatantly illegal.” He added that most large American companies are only forcing employees to comply with vaccine mandates because they failed to resist pressure from the Biden Administration.

The former pillar of General Hospital also wants the court to label ABC’s vaccination mandate “unconstitutional” and seek compensation. He even shared an Instagram post of a photo of himself posing alongside the words, ‘I’m going to be with you to fight for medical freedom.’

About one in five American adults has not received a single dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Several production companies in Hollywood have enforced similar mandates on set, but there is no official requirement in the industry that actors be vaccinated in order to work on set.

Rademacher has also faced criticism on social media in recent weeks for making “transphobic” comments.

The German-Australian actor has vigorously denied these allegations.

Dailymail.com has reached out to representatives for ABC and Rademacher to comment on both matters.

“General Hospital”, which takes place in the fictional city of Port Charles, New York, has been on the air since 1963. It has 59 seasons as new episodes progress.

In his latest episode, which aired on November 22, Rademacher’s character, Japer ‘Jax’ Jacks, referenced the actor’s real-life situation, saying that he would return to Australia after fighting with his neighbors. .

“I’m a little exhausted with everyone in Port Charles right now,” the character said. Fans of the show shed light on the scene, interpreting that the actor had specifically fallen in love with his co-stars, including trans actress Cassandra James and Nancy Lee Grahn.

In November, Rademacher apologized in an Instagram video for not crossing out the word ‘friend’ when he shared a tweet from a conservative commentator who used the word referring to Rachel Levine, the US undersecretary of health.

Levine is currently the first four-star transgender officer to take office.

Rademacher’s apology came after heavy condemnation of his actions by his colleagues James and Grahn on Twitter.

“I am aware of a transphobic post shared by a fellow General Hospital actor,” James, who plays Dr. Terry Randolph in the soap opera, shared on Twitter. ‘You should be ashamed of yourself. You have some serious education and unlearning to do. I am deeply disappointed that such a public display of ignorance can come from our GH family. ‘

“Gender discrimination among trans people is violence and if you come for one of us, you come for all of us,” added James. ‘The cis world can’t decide which of us is valuable. I am very proud of the fans for always keeping us at a high level, for drawing attention to transphobia and violence. ”

Grahn tweeted about it: “ Fellow actor, #IngoRademacher, is thankfully no longer part of the cast of #gh. Transphobia and lack of gender are disgusting and should be unacceptable in any industry, including soap operas and acting. I’m with my co-star @cassandrajames_ and the trans community. ‘

It was unclear if Rademacher’s firing from the soap opera had ties to his recent actions on social media.

Rademacher tells his transgender co-star: ‘Cassandra, I sincerely apologize

In his apology, Rademacher tells his transgender co-star: ‘Cassandra, I sincerely apologize. I think you are an absolute talent and you are also very beautiful. I don’t think a transphobic man would say that. I think you are absolutely beautiful, really.

Later, the actors recall a story when he and his wife allowed his son to wear a Disney princess dress when he was three years old because he wanted to look pretty. I don’t think a transphobic father would buy his son a Disney princess dress. ‘

On the matter, he said that he should have crossed out the word ‘friend’ from the original post, adding: ‘I don’t think it’s okay to call a transgender an empowered woman because where does that leave women?
