Who is Hamza Hoque ?

Hamza Hoque repeatedly stabbed 19-year-old Muhammed Samir Uddin in the chest at Crossharbour DLR station in east London on July 10, 2020.

He then stabbed Andre Riley in the back during the “senseless” attack.

Hoque, 22, of Manchester Road, Tower Hamlets, was imprisoned for a minimum period of 27 years at a hearing at Southwark Crown Court.

During sentencing, Judge Sally Cahill QC called Hoque “spoiled, selfish, power hungry and evil.”wikipedia

She said: “There is nothing that has come to light during the course of this trial that explains his actions.

“I reject his account that his knife was for defensive purposes, as evidenced by his use when defense was not needed.

“In my opinion, you haven’t shown the slightest bit of remorse at any time.”

The court heard that Mr. Uddin and Mr. Riley had a brief conversation with Hoque to “make amends” with him when they saw him watching them from the top of a staircase at the station.

Hoque then turned to walk away before pulling a black kitchen knife from his fur hood and stabbing them both.

Mr. Uddin collapsed on the stairs, but was picked up by his friend and they started to flee. The pair only managed a short distance outside the station before the 19-year-old collapsed again when Hoque fled.

Despite treatment, Mr. Uddin died at the scene.

Mr. Riley suffered a spinal fracture and spent a week in intensive care. He still suffers from problems with balance, blood pressure, sleep and appetite, and he was forced to move after receiving threats, the court reported.

In a statement about the victim’s impact read in court, Uddin’s father, Soif Uddin, said that his family’s life “vanished” when they learned of the murder.

He said: “Bearing the pain and anguish that our son is no longer too much. He has broken us from the inside out.”

“My son was sleeping, we couldn’t even hug our son, we missed our son and not a day or night goes by that we don’t think about it.”
