In August 2008, the California Court of Appeals ruled in Yeager’s favor, finding that his daughter Susan had breached her duty as a fiduciary. Hundreds of thousands of dollars had been illegally withdrawn from their accounts.

Yeager lived in Northern California and died on the night of December 7, 2020, at the age of 97, in a Los Angeles hospital. His second wife, Victoria, confirmed to CNN late Monday that Yeager had passed after Twitter from Yeager’s verified Twitter account that the WWII aviation ace had died.

“Amazing life well lived, America’s greatest pilot,” she wrote.

Tributes have poured into de Yeager, led by NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, who called her death a “great loss” for Americans.

“Today’s passing of Gen Chuck Yeager is a tremendous loss to our nation,” Bridenstine said in a statement. “Gen Yeager’s pioneering and innovative spirit advanced America’s capabilities into the skies and sets our nation’s dreams rising in the jet age and space age. He said, “You don’t focus on the risks. You focus on the results. No risk is too great to avoid the necessary work of getting it done. ‘”
