Gigi Gaskins Biography
Who is Gigi Gaskins?
Gigi Gaskins is the owner of Hatwrks in Nashville, Tennessee. She sparked outrage by selling Nazi-style Jewish Star of David patches that say “not vaccinated.” The 60-year-old anti-vaxxer has defended her actions on her Instagram after the photo of her with the yellow star patch went viral. Several brands have cut ties with Gaskins and her store closed on May 29, 2021, amid protests abroad.
Gaskins’ Instagram page is littered with misinformation about anti-vax, far-right and pro-Trump conspiracy theories and vaccines debunked. She wrote in the bio section of the page, “Custom and global brands. one of the largest national teams in the world…. We also speak out against tyranny !! “She has posted several times amid the controversy about the Star of David patch, but has disabled comments.
“Are people so outraged by my post? But are you outraged at the tyranny the world is experiencing? If you don’t understand what’s going on, it’s your fault, not me, ”Gaskins wrote on her company’s Instagram page. “I pay much more respect to history by defending myself against the fallen than by offering silence and conformity. that’s the worst crime. was then and is now. I’ll remove your disgust and hope you put it where it belongs.
She added in a follow-up post, “IN NO WAY did I mean to trivialize the Star of David or disrespect what happened to millions of people. That is not who I am and what I stand for. my intention was not to exploit or make a profit. My hope was to share my genuine concern and fear, and do everything I can to make sure nothing like that happens again. I sincerely apologize for any insensitivity. ”
The original viral Instagram photo showing Gaskins proudly wearing the Star of David was posted and deleted on May 27. In the caption, she wrote: “The patches are here! They turned out great. $ 5 (each). Strong adhesive backing. … .. We will be offering trucker caps soon. ”Gaskins said on Instagram that she never sold any of the patches and removed the post after two to three hours when it started to generate controversy.

Stetson leans out of range
Calling the original Star of David post “offensive,” iconic hat maker Stetson USA announced on its Twitter account on Saturday that it would stop distributing its products in the store.
“As a result of the offensive content and opinions shared by HatWRKS in Nashville, Stetson and our distribution partners will cease the sale of all Stetson products. We thank them for their continued support and patience, ”the publication read.
Later, Hatwrks published an apology on Saturday, stating that the business did not intend to “trivialize” or “disrespect” what happened during the Holocaust.
“In no way was it intended to trivialize the Star of David or disrespect what happened to millions of people. That is not who I am and what I stand for. My intention was not to exploit or make a profit. My hope was to share my genuine concern and fear and do everything I can to make sure nothing like that happens again. I sincerely apologize for any insensitivity. ”
Gaskins says she started posting political opinions
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and the final months of the 2020 presidential election, Gaskins did not post anything about politics or conspiracy theories on Hatwrks’ Instagram and Facebook pages. Instead, her social media pages were filled with photos of hats and other products sold at her store and posts about music and events in Nashville. But the tone of her pages took a drastic turn when the first coronavirus restrictions were implemented in March 2020.
On March 17, 2020, Gaskins wrote on Instagram: “hatWRKS is OPEN … All 5 of us are here, not sick, fearless and on the payroll. Don’t even buy a cowboy hat if you’re not going to act like one. ”
On March 20, 2020, she wrote: “I consider hatWRKS my home. that’s why it works the way it does … it’s not a proper and formal business, but an extension of who I am. I like to think it’s real and not just $$$ … it works for some and not for others. but as of this week, we have grown and are successful enough to provide livelihoods for more than 5 people. I am very proud of that. now that suste is being stolen
