Who was George Perez ?
DC Comics artist George Perez, who drew hit characters like Superman and Wonder Woman, has died at the age of 67, the publisher announced.
DC Comics fans around the world are mourning the passing of the artist.
Comic book writer and illustrator George Perez attends the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con at the South Point Hotel & Casino.
“His art of him was the perfect narrative canvas for some of the biggest events in DC history. While he will be dearly missed, his work will live on with countless fans, as well as all the talent he has influenced over the years,” creative director Jim Lee said in a statement.
Perez was also a key player in the 1987 relaunch of Wonder Woman, according to the DC Comics website.
The relaunch of Wonder Woman brought the character closer to her Greek roots. He also designed the look of Action Comics villain Lex Luthor’s iconic battle suit for the Man of Steel.
During his time at DC Comics, Pérez also worked with writer Marv Wolfman on New Teen Titians.
Recently, he was working on a DC/Marvel crossover.
