A Papa John’s delivery driver, Gage Melton in Ohio, shot dead and killed a man who allegedly tried to rob the pizzeria Sunday night, according to a report.

Gage Melton, 21, and another masked suspect broke into the New Carlisle restaurant around 11 p.m. with a crowbar and a knife, WDTN reported, citing authorities and 911 records.
A store clerk, who has a concealed transportation license, opened fire on the suspected thieves and beat Melton.
“Someone came in and was shot in self-defense,” an employee after the shooting told an emergency dispatcher, according to recordings of calls received from the point of sale.
“They came directly with weapons and tried to rob us. There is a shot and wounded on the ground. One of them came out, ”said the caller.
Melton died and the other suspect remained at large as of Monday, according to the report.
The employee who opened the fire also spoke to the emergency call center and explained the procedure to him.
“I am a legitimate cover carrier. I’m here at Papa John’s New Carlisle. I feared for my life, ”said the worker.
