Police are searching for a missing 11-year-old girl who traveled to London from Greater Manchester overnight. The force believes the couple was concerned for Fatuma and traveled on the same train as her from Bolton to Manchester Piccadilly and then to Birmingham New Street. The schoolgirl’s parents, Asheem and Misra, said they are in a “state of shock.”
In a statement, they said: “We miss you, we want you to come home. We want to at least know that you are safe. You have no problem. Contact us or the police. If anyone knows where she is or has seen her, contact the police. We are in shock. We want to know where she is, who she is with, but above all, if she is safe. Fatuma, please come home. ”
Fatuma was reported missing just before 10:45 p.m. Thursday night. After some inquiries, it was discovered that she had boarded a train from Manchester Piccadilly at 21:27 to Birmingham New Street before catching another train from there at 23:10 to London Euston.
Fatuma, who arrived at Euston Station alone, is described as an Asian woman, who is about 5 feet 2 inches (1.6 meters) tall and thin. She was last seen wearing a black headscarf and a black dress. DCI Paul Rollinson, Greater Manchester Police, said: “We are understandably extremely concerned for the well-being of this young woman who was reported missing last night, as she would appear extremely out of place.
“We have been working all night with colleagues from the British Transport Police (BTP) and the Metropolitan Police and are now posting a CCTV image of the three when they arrived at Manchester Piccadilly train station.
“We want to make sure the girl is safe and sound, and we ask anyone with information, no matter how small she is, to come forward. Detectives say Fatuma had aspirations to own a London clothing company and that she may have traveled to the city to pursue her ambition to start a business. Fatuma was described as “street smart” and “confident”, but Rollinson said she was still “very vulnerable.”
He said: “She is smart on the street, she has some wit. But she’s still very, very vulnerable at 11 years old. She has never been out alone and does not travel alone to urban centers. She has not been alone in London before. But her family has said that she is very smart and she can be very confident. ”
Fatuma is said to have a mobile phone with her, but it is currently not working. Anyone with information can 0161 856 5757 quoting the registration number 3275 of 07/22/2021 or report it online at www.gmp.police.uk
