A small number of family members attended the garden party to celebrate the expected arrival of the baby.

The Michigan State Police Bombing Squad, the Gaines City Fire Department and the Med Star Ambulance witnessed the scene.
Police said the victim was one of five people outside the residence when the cannon was fired. He was the only one who was hit by shrapnel.
Three parked cars and the garage where the baby shower took place were also hit by shrapnel.
Police said in a statement.
“The owner had bought the gun at auction prior to the event and had already fired the gun several times.”
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

In recent years, some gender events have shown that devices that launch brightly colored confetti, balloons, or other objects to announce the sex of an unborn baby have taken a dangerous turn.
In September, plans by a couple to use blue or pink smoke to reveal the sex of their baby sparked a fire that burned thousands of acres in Southern California.
In 2019, a homemade explosive revealed the gender of a 56-year-old girl Pamela Kreimeyer, who was murdered in Knoxville, Iowa.
The device was supposed to spray dust, but it exploded like a homemade bomb.
