Who was Eva Mireles ?
A 44-year-old teacher has been named as the first victim of the Texas elementary school massacre, as a desperate father shared a photo of his missing 10-year-old daughter.
Relatives confirmed that Eva Mireles, a special education teacher at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, died Tuesday night.
She is married to Rubén Ruiz, 43, a cop with the local police department, and the couple have a college-aged daughter.
Student Xavier López was also killed in the violence, according to a GoFundMe campaign set up by a cousin to help his parents raise money for the funeral. The family had already raised more than $10,000 by Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, 10-year-old Annabelle Guadalupe Rodríguez is still missing and her father is sharing a photo of her in hopes of locating her.
Her father, who has not been identified, told Fox News that he has not heard from her since gunman Salvador Ramos, 18, opened fire inside the school this afternoon.

The next day, a man blocked the door of a church in Laguna Woods, California and opened fire on his Taiwanese-American congregation, killing one person and wounding five.
Despite recurring mass shootings, multiple initiatives to reform gun regulations have failed in the US Congress, leaving states and local councils to enact their own restrictions.
The deadly violence in Texas follows a series of mass shootings across the United States this month.
On May 14, an 18-year-old white man shot and killed 10 people at a Buffalo, New York grocery store.
The girl’s father has also given the photo of her to the Texas Rangers in hopes they can locate her.
Victims
Mireles worked in the education system for 17 years and was a co-teacher at the school for at least five of them.
In her Robb Elementary School profile, she describes herself as an active runner, hiker, and sometimes biker. Her husband, Rubén Ruiz, 43, is a police officer in the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.
“I am furious that these shootings continue,” said Mireles’ aunt, Lydia Martinez Delgado. These children are innocent. Rifles shouldn’t be readily available to everyone. This is my hometown, a small community of less than 20,000 people. I never imagined this would happen especially to loved ones…All we can do is pray hard for our country, state, schools and especially everyone’s families,” her aunt, Lydia Martínez Delgado, said in a statement. .
A mobile morgue was spotted outside the school early Tuesday as medical examiners began the grim task of identifying the victims.
Ramos was shot and killed by a Customs and Border Patrol agent who realized what was happening and ran to Robb Elementary to help without backup.
In addition, 13 children are being treated in the Uvalde Memorial emergency room, as well as a 45-year-old man who suffered a ‘chafing’.
Police officers said at a news conference Tuesday night that they would work to contact the victims of the deceased as soon as their remains were identified.

Ninety percent of the school’s students are Hispanic and there are about 70 teachers.
It is one of many schools in the district that is a stone’s throw from the Mexican border, with the city of Coahuila 220 miles away. The school is located on the outskirts of the city of Uvalde, with a population of 16,000.
Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin told Fox News shots were fired outside the site and that after shooting one person, the gunman ran into the school where he barricaded himself inside.
The district said the city’s civic center will be used as a reunification center and parents will be able to pick up their children there once everyone is accounted for.
A mobile morgue was seen arriving at the school on Tuesday afternoon.
Ted Cruz, a Republican US Senator from Texas, tweeted that he and his wife are ‘lifting up the children and families in the horrific shooting in Uvalde in prayer.’
Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general, told Fox News that more teachers should carry guns.
“We can’t stop bad people from doing bad things,” he said, adding that he had “never understood that argument.”
