Who is Ethan Crumbley ?

The suspect in the Michigan school shooting was identified as Ethan Crumbley, a 15-year-old sophomore.

The teen is accused of killing four students and wounding seven others when he allegedly opened fire at his Oxford High School, north of Detroit, on Tuesday.

His father purchased the 9mm Sig Sauer that was used in the shooting just four days earlier, on Black Friday, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said.

Crumbley had posted photos of the gun, and of him firing it, in the lead up to the school shooting, the sheriff added.

Investigation

Investigators said they are still trying to determine the motive for the deadly shooting because the suspect does not speak to them. However, some classmates have said that Crumbley was bullied, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Investigators say Crumbley’s parents, James and Jennifer, advised their son not to speak to authorities after his arrest. Police must obtain permission from the minor’s parents or guardians to speak with them, Sheriff Mike McCabe said.

Meanwhile, investigators are taking a “deep dive” into Crumbley’s social media accounts to try to determine a motive or see if there were any red flags.

Crumbley was featured in the local Oxford Leader newspaper in 2017 when she spoke of an elementary school group project on poverty and hunger.

Instagram

An Instagram account by the name of Crumbley, which has since been deleted, had the phrase “‘Now I have become Death, the destroyer of the world.” See you tomorrow, Oxford ”, written in the biography section, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

Shootingg

Three of the students who died in the shooting were identified Tuesday by authorities as 16-year-old Tate Myre, 14-year-old Hana St. Juliana and 17-year-old Madisyn Baldwin. A fourth teenager, Justin Shilling, 17, died from his injuries on Wednesday.

Myre died on patrol when an officer tried to take him to an emergency room, according to the sheriff.

Seven students, ages 14 to 17, were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, including several who were in critical condition. A 14-year-old girl was hooked up to a ventilator after surgery.

I’ve seen it around school. He’s a kid, he’s been bullied and things like that, and when someone has bullied him, people bully him, he will understand.

“You’re going to get this reaction,” Treshan Bryant told ABC 7 outside of school.

Neither of the shooter’s parents have commented yet. His father, James, works for Autonomous Inc, an office software supply company.

It is understood that he bought the gun his son used just four days ago.

“ He had been shooting with him and posted photos of a target and the gun. All of this is part of what you are looking at. We’re going to do a deep dive into social media and all of this young man’s activities, ” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said during a news conference Tuesday night.

Officers rushed to the school around 12:50 p.m. as more than 100 calls inundated 911 dispatchers with reports from a shooter.

A teacher who received a scratch on his shoulder left the hospital Tuesday after being treated, authorities said.

Arrested and Charged

They arrested the gunman, 15, in a hallway within minutes of their arrival with the help of an on-scene school resource officer.

The sophomore student put his hands in the air as deputies approached, police said.

Crumbley’s motive for the shooting remains unconfirmed by the police, but children at the school say he was being bullied.

In the days leading up to Tuesday’s attack, he posted on Instagram to show off his father’s new Sig Sauer 9mm pistol, pretending it was his.

‘I just got my new beauty today. SIG Sauer 9MM. Ask all the questions I will answer, ” he wrote in a post last week on an Instagram account that has now been removed. Other bogus accounts were circulating online Wednesday morning while Crumbley remained in police custody, refusing to cooperate with investigators.

It was a quiet scene at his family’s home, to which his parents have not returned since they visited him yesterday.

Last night, officers were seen taking a stack of long-barreled weapons out of the house. Most of the photos of Crumbley that remain online were taken at least three years ago, when he was 12 years old.

Victims

Two of the victims in yesterday’s shooting were older than 15-year-old Crumbley. The third was a year younger than him. It is unclear if he knew any of his victims or if they were randomly murdered.

Yesterday, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard revealed that Crumbley is not speaking with investigators at the juvenile facility where he is being held. His parents James and Jennifer have hired him a lawyer who has advised him to defend the fifth.

It is unclear whether he will be charged as a teenager or an adult. The Oakland County Attorney’s Office says he has yet to receive a recommendation from the sheriff’s office.

The students exchange glances as one whispers ‘he said it’s safe to go out’.

But the teacher responds: ‘We are not taking that risk. The gunman yells something inaudible before calling his classmate ‘brother’ and in that disgusting moment, classmates started jumping out of a window, realizing that the self-proclaimed cop was actually the shooter.

A senior at the school, Aiden Page, said his teacher locked the classroom, barricaded the door, covered the windows and ordered the students to hide after hearing two shots at the school.

“We grabbed calculators, we grabbed scissors in case the shooter got in and we had to attack them,” Page told CNN, adding that a bullet had gone through a desk that was used to block the door. It was unclear if Page was in the classroom shown in the video.

The campus was closed during the attack, and some children took refuge in closed classrooms. They were later taken to a nearby Meijer store to be collected by their parents. The district said in a statement that all of its schools would be closed for the rest of the week.

Bouchard said Tuesday night that investigators were still trying to determine a motive.

“The person who has the most information and the motive is not to speak,” Bouchard said at a news conference Tuesday night. Oakland County Sheriff Mike McCabe said the suspect, who is housed at the Oakland County Juvenile Center on suicide watch, had demanded his right to an attorney after his parents advised him not to speak to the researchers.

The latest in a long series of US school shootings will re-fuel debates over gun control and mental health care, with many states allowing easy access to firearms while upheavals Mental health issues are often left untreated. Authorities said counseling would be offered to students, staff and deputies.

President Joe Biden responded to the shooting Tuesday afternoon, saying ‘my heart goes out to the families of all those in Oxford, Michigan who experience the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one.’

Facebook

In a heartbreaking Facebook post before her family learned that she had not survived, Madisyn’s grandmother pleaded for any information about the high school senior, who was scheduled to be in a psychology class when the shooting occurred. .

Jennifer Graves Mosqueda wrote: ‘My granddaughter Madisyn Baldwin cannot be located at all !!! Madisyn is 17 years old and in her senior year at Oxford High School.

‘Our family is on foot trying to find her and bring her home safely. She doesn’t answer her cell phone or text her.

‘She was not in her psychology class during the shootings. WHERE IT WAS SCHEDULED. No contact with her mother, father, stepmother, grandparents, aunts, friends, or her boyfriend! ‘

She continued to implore people for information and asked parents to ask their children if they had seen Madisyn.

“I never imagined the horror we are witnessing today,” Oxford Police Chief Michael Solwold wrote in a Facebook post.

‘I saw the fear and tears on our children’s faces when we escorted them to safety. Although our children were scared, I heard many as they ran out with their hands up saying thank you. It took my whole being to hold me together and go back down the hallways to help clear the classrooms. ‘

“There is not enough training in the world to prepare you for your emotions when it comes to your children. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their families, school staff and first responders, ‘he added.

At a vigil last night at LakePoint Community Church, Leeann Dersa held back tears as she hugged friends and neighbors. Dersa has lived almost all of her 73 years at Oxford. Her grandchildren attended high school.

Pastor Jesse Holt said news of the shooting

Pastor Jesse Holt said news of the shooting got to him and his wife, including text messages from some of the 20 to 25 students who are among the 400-member congregation.

‘Some were very scared, hiding under their desks and texting us:’ We are safe, we are fine. We hear gunshots, but we’re fine. ‘ They were trying to calm us down, at least that’s how it felt, ” he said.

Police confirmed last night the ages and injuries sustained by the eight injured victims.

Four students were in critical condition. Among them, a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the head and a 14-year-old boy with gunshot wounds to the jaw and hand. They were both being treated at McLaren Hospital.

Two girls, ages 14 and 17, were in critical condition and were being treated at Hurley Medical Center in Flint and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac.

The 14-year-old was hooked up to a ventilator after surgery, police said.

Three students, two 15- and 17-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl, were classified as “expected to survive” after being shot in the leg, hip and neck, respectively.

A 47-year-old teacher was discharged from McLaren Lapeer after being shot in the shoulder.

Family

“You can certainly pray for our families here at Oxford and our students,” he said. ‘I am learning information in real time just like you.

Of course, I am surprised.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer also condemned the tragedy, calling the killings “every parent’s worst nightmare.”

‘Gun violence is a public health crisis that claims lives every day. We have the tools to reduce gun violence in Michigan. ‘

Whitmer added that: ‘no one should be afraid to go to school, to work, to a house of worship or even to their own home.
