Dr. Eric Coomer is Director of Product Safety and Strategy and Vice President of Dominion Voting Systems, the election services company that has become a center for conspiracy theories surrounding the presidential election. Many conservative pundits and conspiracy theorists, along with the president himself, have pushed for the unsubstantiated claim that Dominion altered the election results in some way on Biden’s behalf. Now, they are setting their sights on Coomer.
The conspiracy theories surrounding Coomer come on the heels of the growing and unsubstantiated claims of fraud with Dominion Voting Systems in general. Dominion Voting Systems is a Toronto, Canada-based electoral services company that has provided the technology for presidential elections in select counties across the country.
Earlier this week, Trump pushed for the unsubstantiated claim that Dominion’s “voting failures” were responsible for a shift in the vote count in key counties in Georgia and Michigan. Jack Nicas refuted this claim for The New York Times:
Dominion software was used in only two of the five counties that had problems in Michigan and Georgia, and in each case there was a detailed explanation of what had happened. In all cases, the software did not affect the vote count.
On Thursday, POTUS retweeted another unsubstantiated claim about “voter fraud” with Dominion Voting Systems, via a One America News Network tweet alleging that the software “knocked out 2.7 million Trump votes nationwide,” citing the “data analysis” as proof of this fraud.
Now, Coomer is the latest to get caught up in the conspiracy theories surrounding Dominon.
Coomer Has Filed a Number of Patents for Dominion Voting Systems
According to Justia Patents, Coomer has filed a number of patents on behalf of Dominion Voting Systems. He and several other employees specifically filed 12 patents from 2012-2014 in the name of voting software, most of which have to do with “adjudication of ballots in voting systems using ballot images” and other systems and measures aimed at increase safety and precision. around the tracking, printing and processing of ballots.
Coomer has been the vice president of Dominion Voting Systems since 2019. A copy of the minutes of an Arizona Secretary of State Equipment Certification Advisory Committee shows him registered in that position.

Eric entered the elections industry in 2005 as Chief Software Architect at Sequoia Voting Systems. He joined Dominion in 2010 as Vice President of US Engineering, overseeing development and later appointed Director of Product Strategy and Security to drive next-generation product creation, while focusing on the changing landscape of threats and cybersecurity responses. Eric graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics.
Coomer Has Been Director of Product Strategy Since 2015
According to the minutes of a Dominion Voting Systems meeting for the state of Colorado, Coomer has been Director of Product Strategy for the election services company since 2015.
According to the minutes, Coomer’s focus on this role is to “drive next-generation product creation through close collaboration with customers, combined with a deep understanding of technology and the needs of electoral departments in all of the United States. ”
Coomer’s biography continues,
Eric has been an active participant in the development of the IEEE common data format for electoral systems, as well as in the working group to develop standards for limiting risk audits for electoral results. When he’s not designing new products, Eric supports clients large and small during election season.
