Four police officers have been attacked after posing for a photo with a bank robbery suspect smiling, shirtless and handcuffed after a mass manhunt in Mississippi.
Several federal and state law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and ATF, joined the search before Boykin was found in a wooded area about 600 meters from the bank, according to WLBT.
The outlet published a photo of Boykin, smiling, flanked by four armed officers and three police dogs. Two of the officers smiled, including one of the officers who has his hand on Boykin’s shoulder.
The image immediately sparked a backlash on social media when critics slammed officers for turning the ordeal into a photo shoot that looked like hunters posing with an animal trophy.wikipedia

Boykin was charged with robbing a bank at gunpoint and fleeing the scene

On Thursday morning, WLBT added this to the end of the story:
WLBT has asked various agencies for the identity of the officers in the photo and whether the normal procedure of a department is to take photographs like this at the end of a search operation. At this time, the routine procedure and the identities of the agents are unknown. We will continue to ask those questions and make updates available. “.
“ If I were managing a news station’s social media, I would just not post images that look like human trophy searches for clicks, ” someone said on Twitter.
Other Twitter users simply said, ‘Um, no one at the news station thought about this?wikipedia
It is unclear which agency the officers belonged to. Prentiss Police Investigator Richard Browning confirmed that the officers were not part of his department and speculated that they may have come from Louisiana to join the search.
“I didn’t even know about the photo until reporters started calling me,” Browning told DailyMail.com. ‘It’s unfortunate. I agree that it is in bad taste.
The only Louisiana law enforcement agency known to have participated in the search was a K9 team from the Louisiana State Prison System, according to WLBT. DailyMail.com left a message seeking comment.

Critics on Twitter slammed officers for dehumanizing Boykin by proudly posing next to him after he was captured.
Josie Duffy Rice, a reporter for the criminal justice system and president of ‘Appeal’ tweeted: ‘So either 1) none of the people involved, from the officers to the news station and the employee who posted this, realized that how bad this looks or 2) they know what it looks like and that’s why they posted it. Those are the only two possibilities! and both are very, very bad.
This image has a very haunting “big game” vibe to it. Like, how did it come about? “Hey guys, get together so we can remember this moment, bring the dogs!” I hope I’m wrong, ” another Twitter user said.
‘OMG. The police officers appear to be posing with a lion or deer that they shot. This is screwed up, ‘said one Twitter user.
‘And who would be considered the’ animal ‘in this’ big game’ hunt? And is there a history of dehumanization and comparison of black people with animals? if that’s the mindset of these officers – take a picture of their ‘trophy’ then it’s definitely about race, “said one Twitter user in a long list of responses to Rice’s tweet.
