Who is Eloddie Goncalves?
Eloddie Goncalves, 31, is accused of murdering her young son Malik Goncalves in August 2020.
She is also accused of causing the death and cruelty of a child, both in relation to Malik, as well as assaulting an emergency worker and perverting the course of justice.
The mother was not present during a plea hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court today, where no indication of a guilty plea was given.
Muritala Olaiya-Imam, Malik’s 36-year-old father, appeared in the same court to plead not guilty to the crimes of allowing his son’s death, cruelty to a child and perversion of the course of justice.
Both parents were remanded in custody ahead of a provisional trial date of November 21 later this year with an estimated five-week provisional trial.
Investigation
Goncalves, of Harlow, Essex, and Olaiya-Imam, Western Avenue, Dagenham, will appear in court for a case management hearing scheduled for June 20.
Police and paramedics rushed to Joyners Field in Harlow, Essex at around 10am. m. on August 19, 2020 to receive reports that a baby had become ill at a property.
Upon arrival, they found a two-month-old boy, Malik Olayia, unconscious and gasping for breath.
Several police vehicles and ambulances were seen parked outside the high-rise apartment block, while an air ambulance was also seen landing nearby in a field off Rye Hill Road.
He was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, where he was sadly pronounced dead hours later.
Malik’s provisional cause of death was later given as “head injuries pending further investigation”.
