Who was Elizabeth McCann ?
THE devastated family of a woman found dead in a flat have paid tribute to the “happy and bubbly” 26-year-old.
Police discovered the body of Elizabeth McCann, known as Lizzy, in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, on Thursday and have since charged a man with rape and murder.
Elizabeth McCann, 26, died at a house on Manchester Road in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.
Arrested and Charged
Her family described her as having “the warmest smile.”
Simon Goold, 51, was also charged with penetrative assault.
He appeared before Manchester Magistrates Court yesterday, where he was taken into custody ahead of his appearance in crown court on Tuesday.
Lizzy’s relatives said today that hers will be “dearly missed” by all who knew her.
In an emotional statement shared via Greater Manchester Police, they said: “Elizabeth was a very happy and bubbly young lady, who loved helping everyone.
“He loved going for walks to places like Hartshead Pike, Dovestones and along the canals.
“Her favorite place to go was Blackpool, especially on Halloween, to see all the decorations and costumes people were wearing.
“Elizabeth had the biggest heart anyone could ask for and the warmest smile.
“She was taken from us too soon. The world had not come to know the love that Elizabeth gave.
Family
“Her family and friends will miss her dearly.”
Her cousin previously wrote on Facebook: “I am completely shocked.
“You didn’t deserve this. Heartbroken. Now fly high with the angels.”
And a friend added: “She was always a bubbly and smiling girl.
“What is this world headed for? RIP Elizabeth.”
She called police shortly before 9:15 a.m. on August 25 to report that a woman had died in a flat on Manchester Road.
Later, a man arrived at a local police station and was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police confirmed that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with Lizzy’s death.
