A woman who developed a close relationship with Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán’s wife after beautifying her hopes the 31-year-old former beauty queen will avoid prison after she was arrested at Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Monday.
The makeup artist, who goes by the name Maralu, shared a photo of Emma Coronel on Tuesday on her Instagram account Story of her with a caption in Spanish that reads: ‘See you soon.
The makeup expert’s Instagram account, maralumakeup._, also contains several model photos of Coronel, including one posted on Monday that was apparently part of a Valentine’s Day photoshoot.
Maralu, who also advertises herself as a hairdresser, also shared two photos of Coronel in a wedding dress that are part of a December 2020 Instagram ad campaign for a hair salon in Sinaloa, Mexico, and at least two other shots. -up shot of her friend showing her makeup strokes.
Although her professional work received hundreds of likes, Maralu was criticized by a Mexican follower who accused her of being a ‘drugged makeup artist’.
‘Anyone who agrees to work with drug traffickers and murderers, whose hands are stained with the blood of thousands of innocent Mexicans, is also morally responsible for it,’ she wrote @saidcst.
However, many of the 554,000 Instagram followers of the verified account @therealemmacoronel want U.S. federal prosecutors and investigators to show leniency towards Coronel, who is the mother of the couple’s twin daughters who were born in California in 2011 .

Emma Coronel, who married El Chapo at the age of 18, is accused by the Justice Department of helping him escape from El Altiplano, a maximum-security prison near the city of Toluca in 2015. U.S. federal authorities also accused her of plotting a second prison break before he was extradited to the U.S.
Coronel’s follower on Instagram, @ruthortiz, shared the same sentiment: ‘May God bless you and protect you, come out soon for your beautiful girls.’
Another Instagram follower sympathized with El Chapo’s wife, arguing that he would never have allowed her to participate in the illicit but lucrative cartel business.

They blame her only [for] the fact that she is the wife of [El] Chapo Guzmán, ‘he wrote @ adelove17. ‘The husband was never going to allow him to mix with her in her business. She has always been devoted to her twins. She never got close to cocaine. They only judge her for being the wife of [El] Chapo ‘.
The Instagrammer @lupitaescobar intervened saying that Coronel’s arrest and charges were unfair.
“I hope everything goes well for you and that you are released,” he wrote. ‘That’s not fair. God bless you.’
Colonel made her first court appearance in Washington before a United States judge on Tuesday and was ordered arrested on charges of conspiring with her husband to run a multibillion dollar drug company while he was behind bars.
She is being held in an Alexandria, Virginia jail, and her attorneys are expected to request bail. She has yet to plead guilty.
Authorities said Coronel relayed messages to help Guzmán carry out drug trafficking from 2012 to early 2014, and she continued to deliver messages while she was visiting him in a Mexican prison after his arrest in February 2014.

They also said Coronel conspired in Guzmán’s famous July 2015 escape from the Altiplano prison in Mexico through a mile-long tunnel dug from his cell, and began planning another escape following his capture in January. 2016 by the Mexican authorities.
Coronel is being accused of conspiring with El Chapo, whom she married at age 18, to distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine for the illegal importation of her into the United States.
If she is found guilty on all charges, her Colonel faces life in prison and a possible $ 10 million fine.
