Edith Riddle Biography
Edith Riddle, of Jacksonville, was arrested on a child abuse charge stemming from the alleged beating last week at Dupont Middle School, news station KVUE reported.
Police said a school security officer had heard a “frenzied” announcement on the school radio system about a fight outside the cafeteria around noon on March 18. Riddle’s daughter threw a few punches at the victim before Riddle joined in, throwing punches herself. Riddle had a boxing glove in hand when she arrived at the school and had told authorities that she was attached to her wrist and she could not be removed from it, according to FCN.

Charges - Arrested
The victim’s parents came to the school and told police that she wanted to press criminal charges before taking the boy to a nearby hospital. Riddle was arrested and charged with one count of “child abuse with a personal / special weapon.” A Florida mother showed up to her daughter’s high school wearing a boxing glove and allegedly attacked a student, authorities said. When the officer got there, he found Riddle in a physical altercation with a student.
Riddle had been on campus for a meeting with the vice principal and her daughter, cops said. Instead of leaving the building afterward, the daughter headed straight for the cafeteria to fight a girl, police said. Witnesses told police that Riddle’s daughter pushed the girl and threw some punches at her, before the mother allegedly began beating the victim as well.
Interestingly, a passerby told authorities that the mother appeared to have a boxing glove on her left hand. Riddle was already wearing the glove when she arrived on campus, insisting that she was super attached to her wrist and that she was unable to remove it, according to KVUE.
The girl suffered bruises to her knees and forearms, authorities said. She was later taken to a hospital for a follow-up evaluation. Her parents told authorities they wanted criminal charges filed against Riddle.
