Evoire Collier, 21, and Dorian Taylor, 24, are also charged with stealing the unconscious woman’s credit cards and using them while on vacation in South Beach, the Miami Herald reported.
The couple were captured on surveillance footage arriving at the Albion Hotel with the weakened Pennsylvania resident around 1 a.m. Thursday, police said.
“[Taylor] grabbed her from behind her and held her by her neck so she could stand up,” said Luis Alsina, Miami Beach Detective Luis Alsina, during a bail hearing Monday, the Herald said.
Police said the men each had sex with the victim at the hotel and at one point Taylor allegedly forced her because she appeared to be unconscious.
“The fact that the victim was under the influence of alcohol and drugs could not have consented to have sexual relations with the accused,” says the police report.
As her victim fainted, the men stole her credit cards, phones and cash and left them in the room “regardless of her well-being or safety,” the report says.
First responders discovered the “half-naked” woman dead in the bedroom bed later Thursday.
Cops were able to locate Collier, who matched the description of one of the men in surveillance videos, Saturday in an area that recently filled with spring break to celebrate.
He allegedly confessed that he and her friend met the woman at a local restaurant and that Taylor had given her a “green pill” according to police reports.
Collier told police he believed the drug was Percocet, a strong pain reliever, Alsina testified in court.
He reportedly said, “He left with [Taylor] because they planned to have sex with the victim,” the report says.
The two men, originally from Greensboro, were incarcerated in a Miami Dade prison on Sunday.
The charges against him include battery intrusion, sexual assault, petty theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.
Investigators are still trying to determine the victim’s cause of death and whether it was an overdose of the pill administered by men. In this case, the two could also be charged with manslaughter or murder, the Herald reported.
Their arrests come as local authorities are confronted by a recalcitrant spring break crowd who flocked to the town to party and even arrived at 8 p.m. Recently. Curfew to suppress the noisy festivities.
Miami Beach police have arrested more than 1,000 people since February and at least five police officers have been injured on the job, the Herald reported.
In court Monday, prosecutor Ayana Harris argued that Collier and Taylor should be detained pending trial, noting that they could face more serious charges and pose a flight risk because “they are both abroad.”
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer agreed and expressed concern about the allegations.
“She couldn’t even pick up the phone to call the police or 911 after doing what they did to her,” Glazer said.
Collier and Taylor have been appointed public defense attorneys and are expected to face trial in about three weeks.
